Hi, Im in the market for a Jeep. Saw a Classic(model - 1997) White with original alloys(wired). The owner is demanding 2.5L.
Other Jeep was a MM550, 02 model, army green. Here the demand is ~ 2L.

What do you guys say, how much should be the right price for these vehicles?

Btw, saw a Gypsy (06), all re-painted, new tyres & alloys. Sold for 3.35L.

Which city? Bangalore? I'd recommend looking outside the metros - you'd get better value there.

This is a place(non-metro) in Haryana.

I don't know the right market prices for these vehicles. Wan't to have an idea before striking a deal, otherwise chances of dealers taking for a ride are high!

I'd say, go for the classic. Swb's are a rare breed and the classic is the best of the lot!

2.5 is an acceptable price for a classic, if its in good condition, and if it has all the original parts. I think the 97model came with alloys and not wire wheels, pls confirm the year. Can u post some pix of the car?

Also, if u are going for the classic, check if the following hard to find parts are present on the jeep.

Wire wheels/ OE alloys

Dashboard with multiple warning lights

Chrome bull bar

Roll cage and side steps

Sporty bucket seats

Canvas top and removable doors

1961 OHV

post the pics of the classic.
if its in mint condition then 2.0 lac is ok.please go for the 550 if you are not able to source a short wheelbase jeep. That should be your last option

hi bonfree.
check all the mechanicals
engine, suspension, brakes, steering, check the chassis for any weilding. the body should not have rust ,dont worry about paint. test drive the jeep ,goo fast on sharp humps, brake from 60km hard , gears should not slip, check 4wd . if all this is ok bargain for 2 lac.

rev the engine when you drive and observe for black smoke which is bad.
keep an eye on the temp.

Thanks, yes local mechanics lay lot of stress on checking whether engine blows or not.

Im more inclined towards MM550 because of more room for the driver & front metal doors.
