ICE for Scorpio - Double Din Touch Screen, DVD, Bluetooth,

Post Number:#1  Postby Free Willy » Thu Feb 04, 2010 1:08 pm

I am looking for a double din deck with the features as mentioned in the subject line (add USB/MP3). I plan to get a stand-alone phone (Nokia/Windows mobile/Android) and convert it into a full time GPS to be placed in the car.

Any suggestions on models and price points?

I was actually just looking up their decks on their website. Looks pretty impressive. Have to see how they perform before I plonk money down on them.

Am an Alpine guy all the way. But am sure the Alpine's are hell more expensive.

What is your budget for this?
You just want to put a HU and nothing else now?
An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory.

if u are not concerned with the TA then youcan opt for the down versions, and it will be far less than the 8032bt.while mantain the quality also.

Here is a Pic of the kenwood double din I have. I plan to add the bluetooth adapter and the GPS navigation attachement to this. Inspiration is from Mechanix. He got one, and he has added the bluetooth, ipod and GPS attachements to his. Very reasonable prices too. Mechanix, could you please give more details?

I got this headunit to make the dash look good. Going rate was some 60K when I got it, I got it cheaper and as original importer did not use it. The JVC double din is what most people use these days(when they want a double din), they go for around 25K now. Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer double din units are slightly more expensive.

And that is all I know about ICE. :laughing-rolling:

Thats right. But finding people who have the products I want to compare might be troublesome. All the same, will ask out here.

I do not want to go over INR 20k for HU. I do believe my speakers need a replacement too, but the speakers will be purchased in India and at a later point. I intend to pick up the HU in Kl/Singapore. Good idea or no?

The kenwood's are seriously more expensive than Clarion or even Pioneer. This is a good site to run some initial reviews. The clarion's price lists out at INR 14k which is a great benchmark price to begin from.

I will be putting up a trip report very soon (2 trips - 5,000 kms in total past month).

TA = Touch Assist? I think I will stay away from touch assist now...not been getting the best feedback about its functionality when driving from folks. So I guess my budget is better placed now.

Ah, my main man. Which GPS navigation system are you plonking in? Its pretty much the same set up I intend to follow. Good on you!

60G is a LOT of money for a head unit.

Sonicelectronix ship to India and they are pretty quick, but their credit card/paypal verification PIA. If you buy from sonicelectronix approximate cost will be total cost of all items + 30% customs + 120-160$ (3 days UPS Saver) shipping.

P.S: If you buy head unit from US you need to do DVD region conversion + radio tuning frequency change.

TA means time alignment.and the 8032bt is touch screen.can u try to arrange it from uae, will be vfm than india.
i have seen kenwood models inside 1800dhs(20000rs) 7--- series.it didnt had 5.1 decoding.my advise is to strecth a bit to 30000rs and buy 8032bt,as it is a full fledged machine
