    Problems on polo 1.6

    Hi Himanshu,

I got delivery of my Polo 1.6 last week. Got some nagging problems. Do you face any such issue. Let me share my concerns:
    1. The fuel lid does not open easily. It opens once in about 10 attempts.
    2. There is noise at the seat belt assembly and housing zone in the B Pillar.
    3. I am getting some intermittent sound from the roof (almost like thermocol rubbing). Once I hold the area with my left hand lightly, the sound stops.

Plus, tell me how you are getting such wonderful Fuel Economy figures. Any tips? What are your driving conditions like. I am based in New Delhi and I guess the situation here is average, most cities in India have even worse traffic situations.

Shall look forward to your revert.

First of all congrats on Purchase of ur Polo 1.6 Now u have the Most Powerful Hatch in India. Lets first try to resolve the problems first, by d way i dnt have any of the problems u mentioned and my POLO 1.6 running very smooth without any rattle.

    1) To open the fuel lid u hv to remove the ignition key and than press the unlock button on remote lock, than u hv to press the fuel lid and it will pop out. so u may hv some problem at the lid lock. Apply some lubricant so it can be operated easily. Still it happen again than u hv to run to the service station. Bcz i dnt advice u to just do Try and error method with brand new POLO.

    2) The noise at seat assembly may be due to some loose bolts of seat, dnt try to fix them manually better u get a gud mechanic for this task. In some model of POLO hv this kind of problems. So not to worry.

    3) The roof u said, i think ur car roof interior is not fitted well. First of all check the loose portion of the roof from inside, that creates the rattle problems. U have to get that fixed.

Better u get ur car to authorized VW service center and get all this minor problems fixed by their expert mechanic. Get all the parts of ur car fixed and checked.
About the fuel efficiency, ur Polo is designed for the mileage. Just the light foot on accelerator and dnt try to push it hard. Speed around 80-90 kmph only. U wil feel sometimes that even u push the pedal though the car is not increasing the speed. Its due to ECU of the car, though the accelerator pedal pushed beyond limit, the ECU will regulate the flow of the petrol. This i feel with my POLO 1.6. Though u can easily reach upto 180 kmph easily with this mighty 1.6 petrol engine. I hv touched 140 kmph till now. My driving is 80% on highway and 20% in city.

Now i hope u may get this kind of mileage fig soon. Enjoy Driving Ur POLO 1.6
Inform me how u solve this problems and if u visit VW service center than tell me about their behavior, bcz the other people are complaining about their behavior bt i hv not faced any misbehaving. They talked very politely and give complete info.

    Hi Himanshu,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Well I had been to VW and they have accepted all my problems. The only thing is they have said they would take about a week to rectify all these and I have to leave the car at their disposal. This I find a little unacceptable. 3 issues on a new car in 10 days.

The roof bit is one problem they have not faced in the past and they need to consult VW for the remedy.

The behaviour of the second workshop I visited (Delhi Metropolitan) is good. It is just that I am unable to accept all this happening in so short a time frame.

FE in Delhi is about 10 km/ltr and I hope that would improve a bit.

Thanks again. Shall keep you posted.

    Regards

    Sumit

Good to see this response from VW. Your car must be in warranty right now, right? Ensure you do not have any other problems/issues and get them all sorted this time.

I manage to get 'bout 10-12 in my Vento with 100% AC and crazy city driving.

The max I've driven is 160, with 4 adults and light luggage on board. Could have perhaps got a little more, but I had run out of road.
I absoulutely love the high speed handling of this car. The hydraulic steering feels so smooth to zip zap (cautiously though). Great stability, good body support to counter the inertia.
