Which SUV or Crossover under 25 Lakhs ??

Hi to all . I a new member from Bangalore, need some help in choosing a car .

I am dumping my Nissan Xtrail soon and on look for a SUV or a crossover under 25L OTR Bangalore. Reason for dumping such a beautiful car is the cr@ppy A.S.S by Nissan , over priced parts and failures of various parts in the car over the last 4 years.

    My requirements

    1) Diesel Engine
    2) High ground clearance
    3) Good headroom , legroom
    4) Decent FE of 9-10.
    5) 5 seater preferred but even fine with 7 seater.
    6) Completely loaded car with all bells and whistles.

    Cars Considered

    1) Outlander: No diesel engine else its the perfect car for me.

    2) Fortuner : Boring Interiors and the car is huge considering that 75% of my driving in city

    3) Endeavour : Dated looks

    4) Santa FE : Tried 3 showrooms in Bangalore for a TD/ display vehicle none have it.

    5) Skoda Yeti: NOOOOOOOOOO

    6) Pajero Sport : Out of my Budget

    7) XUV 500 : Did not like the overdone front design. It certainly has a road presence but i did not like the car as such.

    8) Captiva : Liked the car for the looks , airy interiors, had good head room and legroom , decent engine but needs refinement, has all the bells and whistles i am looking for, decent ground clearance, lacks 2nd row AC but read that new captiva is on the corner with 2nd row A/C , a refined engine , more power.

I have cornered on the captiva but wanted to know the below

    1) What is the service interval?

    2) How is Chevy A.S.S in Bangalore and in India?? . Is GM approachive via emails or phone numbers ( asking this because i couldn complain to any one about my Nissan problems except to the dealer who is an idiot )

    3) Prices of parts?

Any more suggestions for the car are welcome.I can wait for about 3 to 4 months for the car purchase if there are going to be any new releases or updates like Renault Duster / Safari Storme / Ford Eco Sport.

PS: This is my first thread in GH , sorry if there are any mistakes.

I remember seeing Advaith (?) near Cauvery signal have one a few months back. Did you check with them?

New Captiva should be launching anytime soon. I'd say wait for it. Comes with a new 2.2L Fiat engine and some upgrades.

Oil change at every 15k. However, most of us change engine oil at around 7.5-8k to make the engines last longer. Trident Chevrolet guys recommend oil change at 10k instead of 15k. But service intervals for the Cruze are 1k (general check-up), 5k (1st free service), 10k (2nd free service), 15k (3rd free service and recommended oil change) and so on. Same is applicable to the Captiva as well.

I bought a Cruze 6 months back, so far my experience with Trident has been brilliant. You can read more about it here.

That should give you a fair idea. For the rest of the Chevrolet experience you can read my thread. And tadukuttan's thread here. He also recently bought the Cruze and has had some decent experience from the dealership.

Depends on what parts you are looking at. With the new engine, I am guessing the parts for the clutch etc could be different.

Trident Chevrolet on the ORR said the same . I was actually blow away by the pre sale experience by Trident. It was probably the best i have come across in my search for a new car from the last 2 months.

What i meant to ask was are they over priced?? or do dealers make you wait for weeks for a part availability??

I do not mind downgrading my car if its really worth it. There are no decent to half decent cars under 12L which meet my requirements.

    Isn't Ford Ranger a pickup

It is. But the endeavor is the suv version of this pick up truck. Hence the front end is the same. So you can check out the pics on the net.

Regarding the ecosport, check out the ford ecosport thread on gearheads.

Ya, same place. I too have been very happy with their pre-sales and service experience so far, touchwood!

Hhhhmmm! They are a bit on the expensive side, but on par with the competition and definitely well below the spare part pricing of the Skodas and VWs. They seem to have stock of all the regular moving parts, I damaged my running board recently, they didn't have it in stock. I've asked them to get it down, it costs some 50k with painting

The post below should give you an example of how the regular stuff that we change are priced. Bumpers and other body panels, no idea! Didn't bother to ask.

Bumpers, Body Panels are usually on the higher side. Its the same with every manufacturer but the engine parts and regular service is what i am looking for it . Not that the car is going to conk off but with my Xtrail experience i am forced to look for the same as well. I will try getting all the parts price for Trident Chevy the next time i pass through ORR.

N00b Q do the Cruze and Captiva share same engine ??

Yes, they both shared the same Z20 motor and gearbox in the current avatar. But with the new facelifted version, GM has ditched the Z20 engine built by VM Motori and has gone in for a Fiat engine. Though the engine will be the same for both the new Captiva and the new Cruze, the Captiva will be running a 2.2L (overbored) engine with 184bhp while the Cruze will run a 2L engine with 163bhp.
