Did you checked with Petes? (Pete's Automotive Products Pvt Limited)

I knew Petes tuning boxes for Fiesta diesel is Rs.43k, but got surprised when I hear their remapping charges were quoted at Rs.32k. They wanted the car to be with them for one full day to tune it. Why not the manufacturers themselves not giving this upgrade options?

Edit: They claim the powers upgrade to 90 Bhp from 68 Bhp & 200 Nm from 160 Nm post remapping

naga, mine is petrol fiesta so i think pete's box is out of the question... and they are charging double as compared to Cosworth for the remap

mclaren, i've dropped the CAI as you advised. I am planning on going for the remap only (for now).
Camshafts are next, maybe in 3-6 months (need to check with those guys if they are for our fiesta petrol 1.6).

Peter has Miltek Exhausts, CAI, Bilsteins for the Fiesta.

I doubt they are doing remaps or have cams for the 1.6. Better to email and ask.

Manufacturers don't give higher bhp tunes, because some engines are shared between different cars. Eg: Maruti uses 75ps engine on the Swift D but uses 90PS tune for the SX4 D.

Other reasons is to ensure high FE, higher reliability of engines for the average Joe.

Unlike US/Europe we don't have engine upgrade options in India yet.

Back to the original topic, if you drive only in city I don't understand the need for a remap or a cam. Waste of money if you ask me unless you love revving the car at almost every opportunity you get and you find the existing power inadequate. Maybe all you need is a end can to give you a feeling of going fast

As for the tuning box, cracking the codes for Ford engines is tougher than other cars. That's why their tuning boxes cost more than remaps. Remapping is the easier bit, but not everyone wants a remap over a box.

Nick always remember one thumb rule while modding a car...

Cheap, fast, reliable. At any point you can only choose any one of the two parameters and the third parameter will have a NOT prefix

exactly the reason i would say.
let me put it this way - i want it to be a bit more quicker even if the max speed remains the same.
    does that make any sense?

Nick, did you go ahead with this? What has been your experience, cost?
If no, could you care to elaborate if it was something other than just dropped the idea.

    Thanks
    Ravi

Well, i had put it off back then. I thought i'd get it done in 6 months or so but it didn't happen.
Now last week i decided that i was going to get it done so called up the cosworth guy's number who i was in touch with back then but its out of service.
Turns out cosworth has closed their india operations. Probably some dealers may have parts but the remap is not possible.

  8. Thanks rkk thanked for this post
