    Bye bye Santro Xing 2004

I think many people here can sympathise with me on this, whenever you're letting go of a vehicle which has been with you, you feel guilty, because any car that has been with you for an extended period of time becomes somewhat like a family member, in thi case its my 2004 Santro Xing 1.1 GLX, its served our family well over the period of eight years, five of them have been spent with me going over one of the most crowded and potholed roads delhi can muster, but she never broke down, even when i was careless with her, she's been a good companion and has covered 81000kms till date, during which course its seen the highway only twice, its in remarkably good condition as far as its mechanicals are concerned, even stood the test of time with a bass tube thumping away in her boot, she's like a little pomerian, her bark is a lot worse than her bite, but she's old now, needs a leg and an arm transplant(shockabsorber), and a bronchial implant(ac service), but she's never let me down, the occasional hiccups came and went, but she was always like an overenthusiastic/overexcited pommy, always ready for that small trip to the park, always ready to go on a journey,

you'll be the car i grew up in(mentally ), you'll be the car in which i dropped a beer once, will always have fond memories, hope you find a good new home, gbye pommy, have a good life

Never saw this thread when it was posted, but yesterday I also parted company with my 6-1/2 year old Santro Xing. It was like a family member, and I loved her like one.

This was the first car I owned, and after she went away, I had trouble falling asleep in the night. My son also came down with me & clicked lots of pics before she was taken away.

i usually don't sell any car, not unless it has a problem which threatens its running capabilities, this was the first one i sold off which didn't have any such problem, our family is expanding so we needed a vehicle which was larger (manifested itself in the form of the Suzuki Ertiga which i bought three months ago) so it was definitely a decision which was hard, if i had the space to keep this vehicle, rest assured i would have kept it with me

I too would not have sold it. In my case though it was purely the usage v/s. maintenance & space issues. My usage hardly can justify two cars - more so since my wife doesn't drive. Keeping one of the cars just standing in the parking lot also hurts a lot - these things are meant to run, not stand idle.
