Do we need to register a particular state vehicle in other state to drive there ??

I am into a deleima!! I want to book a car in non octroi reason in Jharkhand and want to drive it in Mumbai. So is it necessary that i need to re-register it in Mumbai also???
In Jharkhand it will be registered in my Uncle's name. And he is giving me a gift. The difference between two state registration is huge 72k difference in all process.
Even i want to buy a bullet from there as there is no waiting there.
Can i buy it from Jharkhand and drive it in MUmbai with out re-registartion ???
Law permits that, however regional RTO's are greedy nowadays and they have launched a drive to get hold of all these other state vehicles and ask them to pay road tax!!!Originally Posted by IceAge
And in Mumbai its very worse that they even catch Thane vehicles as there is a difference in Octroi between Mumbai and Thane.
