There are 2 categories in Sub. SQ & SPL. SPL ones hit hard & SQ ones blend with your music providing a balanced mix. RF's, JBL's, Pioneers, some series of Infinity fall under SPL. You can get SPL subs from 3K onwards based on what brand, size & model you choose.

SQ subs on the other hand will be bit expensive & start upwards of 10K approximately. There are many brands again like Rainbow, PHD, HAT, etc.

Honestly you've to do 2 things. Fix up your budget, then audition the ones you shortlist.

Subs hitting hard may be nice to have, but prolonged listening in the car will not be likeable (in my opinion). Due to the dynamics of the car & the small area, you can hear those boomy bass for a long time.

Highs are harsh and it hurt my ears during extended use. Even mounting the tweeters off axis didn't help much.
Polyglass VB is the one. but yes i know its quite expensive now, its not worth it at the new price.

Tempo is good, but the speakers are only breaking in so its early to comment on them now. The way it sounds now is not very good, but i'm hoping these would improve after breaking in.

Consider Maximo, RF Prime/Power too. You may be able to buy RF Prime and Morel Maximo Components + co axials in under 12k.

    lvramanan explained it very nicely.

Look for SUBs which are SQ. I'd say to start with go for a 2.1 setup. Then add the rear coaxials or components later. Many dealers will give you the option to listen before you buy. So go with your music and try out different brands that fit in your budget.
