Lot has been said (positive) about suspensions of Linea so I guess this “sideways” moment should not happen, right? Or suspension has nothing to do with it? If so then who’s the culprit here? Check your tyre pressure, assume you would have checked in this 1800km ride. If it is too high, then it will be bumpy and might push the car side ways, but the effect should be very negligible and not felt by the rear passengers. Check with the service center if the alignment is correct.

This used to be the case, but improved over a period of time for me. But I always liked the light steering.

I assume your's is a diesel as per your first post, but you mentioned you filled up petrol after delivery. Anyways, if it is diesel, then the turbo is never down if the RPM is higher, but once the rpm goes down, then it might take a while for the turbo to kick in again. Petrol this is a known issue with lower RPMs as you can see a visible pick-up lag in lower RPMs.

I'm surprised to hear this! Each and every person who has sat in the rear seat of my Linea has praised the ride quality. There is literally zero body roll (which is present in almost all other cars, and that's what 'unsettles' rear passengers). Regarding potholes, Linea esp with 205/55/16 tires eats them with grace and doesn't transfer the burp to the passengers.

Turbo lag. I don't know at hat RPM does it kick in for the MJD model, but in TJet, turbo starts spooling in at 1750 RPM and fully kicks in at 2200 RPM. So any gear shift below that has a lag.

Kinda unbelievable to hear that happening in a Linea! It's a very planted car. I guess the culprit could be as minor as wrong tyre air pressure, to something mediocre as wheel balancing. Alignment is only for the front wheels so that should not be the case. In any case, get someone else to verify this fact before you take to ASS.

Thanks for inputs. I will get alignment and balancing this week.

Thanks Vivek. My linea has leather upholstery so have no plans for seatcover but I do want to know how to take care of leather seats as light cover prone to get dirty!

    Your ride looks amazing!!

Thanks for giving references!! Do you know anyone at Oberoi's Sec-63 workshop as I am staying at Indirapuram hence sec-63 is close to my home?In any case I have to visit Oberoi's to get my registration # and also few issues (like noise while braking, sideways movement) checked.

Haribal(service advisor) has now got transferred from sec-1 to 63 along with Rehman sales head sec-63. If somehow haribal don't remember my name just tell him about my ride's ass, mentioned in my ownership thread, i assume you have read every post. Most of the jobs performed by him. I always gave him 10/10.

If you still find yourself unsatisfied go to sec 1 and meet Mr. Gopalan. Or Him motors and meet Mr. Soni both of them, are just very helpful.

One more tip:- Don't get any accessory from ashwani( accessory sales person at oberoi cars), he is just an irresponsible guy.

Not really the best practice. From my experience, manufacturer recommendation is a good starting point but not the most ideal one. It's a trial and error procedure. E.g. for 205/55/16 they recommend 36/33 psi. However, I found the ride bumpy. So I experimented with different pressures and finally settled on 35/32 psi for 2 front passengers only load.

Keep in mind that tire pressure also has a bearing on fuel efficiency, so decide with proper experimentation.

I have not experienced the swaying part in Linea. It used to happen A LOT in my Getz, because it has a very soft (boat like) suspension. But Linea is well planted at all speeds and high speed cornering at speeds in excess of 130 kmph has a zero body roll.

Vikram - AFAIK, in modern cars we don't have alignment issues in the rear wheels. I'm guessing this problem is related to balancing and tire pressure.

To be doubly sure, get the tires balanced and rotated.

Thats true Nishant. But then its Fiat. Anything is possible .

It could be a tyre issue as well. I had a problem with the front tyre, which was defective. The moment I would cross speeds of 80kmph the whole front end of the car would start to bounce. Cross 120~130 it would get scarily unstable. Very unlike Fiat. So got the alignment and balancing done. While doing that we found that it was a defective tyre. Got it replaced and the problem is not solved.
Competition setup going active soon ;)
