This is the HDS. (830875) - nomex. This is one of their cleanest mid woofers, with useful response upto and above 4k. Making it easy to match with tiny tweeters (eg a car). not the best bass though!

The Sls 830946 paper cone, if that is one your are referring to, has amazing bass, but can only be used as a sub or as the bottom of a 3 way. The TB (nice catch by the way) is better as a sub, though not useful as a 3 way.

( the HDS is their higher series afaik)

Both sets of woofers have been extensively used in home audio (for different applications) with excellent results. The tang band in tapped horn subs and in mini subs, and the peerless in many great main speaker applications.

I purchased them to experiment in the car. And if either do not satisfy in car, then use them for some home audio application.

yes i was talking about sls 830946.i was looking at this and the exodus ex anarchy mids and scan illuminator as i find midbass less with revelators.
i also have two tangband w6-1139sif subs with me and was also thinking of experimenting with them in the door.
did u get the peerless locally or from parts express

it really depends on where you can cross over. 830946 is more like 800hz low pass or preferably 500hz low pass.. if you can go lower, the TB begins to make sense (again, if it fits in your door.) but you will need a midrange in either case.. of course the anarchy makes the most sense for your application, probably "drop-in" more bass, without losing much clarity.

kdp sorry to hog on your thread .i am running a 4 way active and the midrange is scan revelator 12m cone midrange which is covering 400hz to 4khz.although it has a fs of 75 hz but if i cross it any lower the sound looses its fullness

The peerless Sls has a bit of a peak around 600-700hz, but being paper, cannot say how harsh it will be till one hears it. As per the graphs, the tb seems more manageable. If your hu allows 4 th order slope you could crossover at 400hz at 24db /octave on the tb and see how they sound before you pony up for a peerless.

IMHO, the anarchy is your best bet as it is pretty clean in your targeted pass band, though it will be a bit power hungry.

Btw, are you limited to 6.5"? You could try the Dayton rs225-4 if you can accommodate an 8", it is clean and will meet most of your objectives, including, efficiency.

Do pm me if you want any other perspective. Also, what exactly are you missing in the revelators?

The drivers and even the amp will open up and perform at their fullest once they break-in. Have some patience and retune the setup after break-in.

Do post the pics of the DIY crossovers you've made.
    Hi bamaboy,

You had asked to see the crossovers. I finally pulled them out. here they are. I can send you the schematics as well..

Yes. Are you using a DSP in the mix?
Going the experimental way to attain the best possible result with least investment. :)

yes, there is a DSP. NOt using the DSP function yet. just using the basic crossover -4 way crosseover

    Active crossover points
    sub -hp-30hz-LR8
    LP-50hz-LR8

    midwoofer - HP- 45hz-LR8
    LP-700hz-LR8

    Midrange - HP-700hz-LR8
    LP-5khz-LR8

    Tweeter - HP-5khz-LR8.

For the passive crossovers i had posted the crossover frequencies before. mostly second order with a quasi 3rd order for Mid HP and a notch for the mid at the dome breakup.

  10. Thanks bamaboy thanked for this post
