fordfan, Thanks a lot for this lovely thread. I have booked Ford Aspire 1.5tdci, was browsing through GH for some info on microfiber and stumbled into this thread. After going through all 28 pages, got bitten by the detailing bug. As I am in bangalore would love to catch up with you and if possible would love to watch you at work. Of course I will get the beer, coffee to get us through the session

I am hoping to do an elaborate detailing on my car which is 7 years old for the first time. Please look into the order and suggest few products available in India.

      1) Clay
      2) Polish - What product to use ?
      3) Sealant - What product to use ?
      4) Wax

Please suggest if I missed any step ? Also before polish any cleaning is necessary ? Thanks.

Poorboys has got polish + sealant in one product. Its available in Detailed Clean India for 1.5k. Link

Menzerna also has one and its available in Paytm for Rs. 350. Its cheap and best. You can also get a better sealant or wax and apply another layer on it. Link

Or if you want polish + wax, then there plenty of them. I have used Meguiar's Black Wax and Auto Finesse Tripple AIO but I like Black Wax because it gives wet finish to dark colored paint. For light paints, there is White Wax.

However, AIO products would be useful only once or twice a year so I advice to buy individual products for each process instead, which gives better results and durability.

Since the car is 7 year old and being the first time, i would suggest to contact a professional detailer.
If not possible then, i would recommend the below step

      1) Pressure wash followed by shampoo wash (Maguiars is good. I current use Amway)
      2) Remove any iron contamination (CarPro IronX)
      3) Clay
      4) Polish - Would suggest 3 step if there are more scratches, else 2 step should be ok (Menzerna if possible). Make sure you use appropriate pads
      5) Remove the polish residue, would suggest CarPro eraser, else rubbing alcohol
      6) Proceed with wax or sealant. Both purpose are same, sealant will have a better longevity

This should suffice All the best

Nope, I haven't used Poorboys or Menzerna because I have Meguiar's Black Wax and Auto Finesse Tripple AIO. Also I have moved to individual products for each process so I won't go for AIO products. Now I use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish with Rotary polisher, Meguiar's M26 Yellow Wax and Optimum Car Wax as LSP.

As per my research, Poorboys Polish with Sealant is easy to apply and has durable sealant, similar to Poorboys EX-P. With machine it can remove light swirls, scratches, and haze. By hand, it works as a glaze, removing lighter imperfections and enhancing gloss.

Same goes for Menzerna PPU but its sealant durability is unknown so its better to apply another layer of sealant or wax.
