Hmm...... seems to be one among the rare species of "HAPPY SKODA OWNERS". Well .......I am keeping an eye on this thread and others as well. I am seriously contemplating Rapid as my next upgrade from Vista. I am fed up with the daily cropping and popping issues on my Vista and want a peace of mind car. So friends do you consider the Rapid as a reliable and safe bet. How does Rapid stand against the Vista (I mean in terms of reliability).
Hope the Rapid owners can throw some light on this.

Rapid is also just a car like others. If you have bad-luck, you will face problems, not only with Skoda but with other brand as well. There are lot of happy people who don't even look at internet while buying the cars but they are Happy with their Skodas. If your stars are good, Skoda car can keep going for years without demanding anything extra than regular servicing, rather these are much stronger and can tolerate much more abuses than other cars. Just make sure that your nearby Skoda dealer/workshop has good reputation.![]()
Just try to get the feedbacks of your local workshops, if you have couple of good workshops around you which can handle the Skoda cars very well, than you shouldn't worry. Vento is same car, if Skoda is not good than look if VW workshops are good in your area and choose wisely.
Workshops of these companies are very bad in some of the cities, hence the bad repo they gained, but there are good workshops in some cities which are doing well.

Hi Sorry for the delayed reply. i forgot to monitor my own thread while reading others
Coming back to your question : "do you consider the Rapid as a reliable and safe bet. How does Rapid stand against the Vista"
Answers is YES. For me it has been a wonderful Journey till now. Completed 15500 Kms. Till now i didnt face any Reliability issues.
The joy its giving while driving it is priceless. But yes it lacks Electronics gadjets & whistles(rear sensors, Bluetooth, stuffs like that ).
but how many do you use? For me Rear Sensor & other stuffs can be added to a car but not a good engine & driving dynamics.
So dont worry close you eyes & go ahead with the purchase.
First Free Service :
Gave it for servicing in Marikar Skoda in Trivandrum on 26th. They didnt had many vehicles on that day to service hence i guess my Rapid got all the attention:
Gave it around 10 Am got it back by around 4: 45 PM.
THINGS CHANGED & Cost:
Engine Oil : 4.00 Litres Cost: Rs 3344
Oil Filter : 1 nos Cost: Rs 320
Fuel Filter : 1 nos Cost: Rs 1133
Polan Filter: 1 nos Cost: Rs 644
Windscreen Wash Liquid : 1 nos Cost: Rs 150
V.A.S Testing(Not sure whats this ) : Cost : Rs 450
Wheel Alignment : Cost Rs 400
Wheel Balancing : Cost Rs 400
So Total came around Rs 8031.Not bad for a car thats big & has a service interval of 15K Kms![]()

Thank you very much for a very convincing reply. 15500 Kms without serious issues is something I came to believe as more than Ideal.
My vista had undergone replacements for more than 50% of its parts by the time it crossed 6000 KMs. And mind me, they were purely due to manufacturing defects, like rusting, incorrect fitment, defective components, etc., and they were replaced under warranty. My car had to cross around 10,000 kms and about 60% part replacement (including seat assembly, suspension, bushings, tie rods, fuel tank, PW assembly, ORVM and what not all), before getting transformed into a relatively lesser troublesome vehicle.
An now the most big shocker from you. Just Rs. 8031 for routine servicing for 9L+ a car.
My routine service costs are
1. for the year 2011-12 was Rs. 19,780 !!!!!! and that too for a petrol car without any paint job / body work.
2. for the year 2010-11 it was 24,660.00 including one 3100 Rs for teflon coating.
3. for the year 2009-10 it was 16,367.00 including one engine bay waxing for rs. 1500.00

Absolutely. I feel by now I have purchased 3 Vistas (32000 Kms done) from TML and driving only one.
Spot on.
That is why I am looking for a new car which is comparitively more reliable and need fewer replacements. One of my friend had purchased an I10 at the same time and gets his service bills for avg Rs, 4000 only he has done approx 48000 Kms by now. And look at my expenses !!!!!.
