Quite true! My BIL's 3.0TDI gives 10 Kmpl in city.
A8L W12 gives 2-3 Kmpl in city.
Going the experimental way to attain the best possible result with least investment. :)

Is this somethng different from the current A8 with 4.2 liter TDI diesel engine under the hood.
I am asking this because the same car with a similar black top has been as the demo vehicle here with Indore's Audi showroom for more than a year.
I even test drove this true epitome of luxury. The Ex-showroom price at that time which is an year from now was 1,00,57,000 here in Indore.
SO what's the different in this one ??

German luxury car manufacturer Audi unveiled its new Audi A8 L sedan with a powerful 4.2 TDIengine at price of Rs.10,075,000 onwards (ex-showroom Maharashtra).
The limousine sets new standards, this luxury sedan will be available at all showrooms across India. Bollywood actor AbhishekBachchan took delivery of his customized Audi A8 L 4.2 TDI.
The long wheelbase version of Audi A8, which joins the powerful family comprising V6 3.0 TDI q, V8 4.2 FSI q and W12 6.3 L q, delivers comfort and safety standards of distinction.
"The Audi A8 L has been a benchmark in its segment and the new variant will redefine automotive excellence in India," said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
Completely owned subsidiary of German auto makers Audi, Audi India is also the new leader in the luxury car segment in India. Apart from launching A8, at an event in Mumbai, Audi India Facebook page now boasts of over 1 million fans, according to the report on rushlane.com
"A large, distinguished luxury sedan, the new Audi A8 L impresses with a presence of powerful confidence. The length and wheelbase have both been stretched by 13 centimeters versus the standard normal version wheelbase to measure 5.27 meters, offering increased comfort to rear seat passengers. It is available with an optional relaxation seat with power footrest. A number of seating options are available, including the massage function and rear seat entertainment, " the report further said.
It may be noted that 4.2 TDI is a V8 engine which generates power of 258 kW (350 hp) and delivers 800 Nm of torque between 1750-2750 rpm, making it the sportiest diesel saloon in the luxury class.
The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have reportedly been cut on average by 15 percent. The luxury sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
