Chikmagalur or Pondicherry in November

Friends, i would like to have your suggestions..am planning to travel in November to one of the two places listed ..I have already been to Pondicherry a couple of times and I have never been to Chikmagalur. However when i checked about Chikmagalur, the places to see and visit nearby are on a average some 30-50KM away...I also would like to know about the weather there at Chikmagaur at that time (November), Could someone provide more details about Chikmagalur. Is the drive worth it?

I have been to Pondicherry a couple of times and love that place. Wouldnt mind going there again..

And any ideas on the Road Condition from Bangalore to the two places..Are they good toll roads?

The Drive to Chikmagalur is definitely worth it, Chikmagalur is 252 kms from Bangalore and there are two routes available one through Hassan and the other through Arsikere

The best route is through Hassan, you have 4 lanes upto Channarayapattna and from there till Chikmagalur the road is two lanes, the roads are well maintained and you have 4 toll gates in total

The reason Hassan is the best route is because you can visit World Heritage sites like Shravanabelagola, Belur and many more. Also you could visit the highest peak in Karnataka- Mullayanagiri which is about 21 kms from Chikmagalur, you could also visit Kemmannugundi, the drive from Chikmagalur to Kemmannugundi is mind blowing since its takes you through the most remote forest of the Bhadra wildlife sanctuary - a photographers paradise

It all depends on how you would travel, how many days would you travel and so forth.....

Thanks Road King...was planning to travel on a Thursday and return back on Sunday..Hope that gives me ample time. Let me check out the stay options over there....
