TSA S-200 Heads Up display or OBD BT adapter and Android Phone for Cluster Projection

Was always fascinated with the HUD (Laser projection?) I saw in my friends Biimer in US 6 years back, and was wondering a laser one could cost an earth. Just last night I saw Compact LED projection OBD-II based HUD sold on e-bay for under $100, shipped!! Now that was amazing:

But then I read other thread on GH where people used a OBD-II Bluetooth Adapter and paired with with a Smart phone to read many other Engine parameters. I also found some Android Apps which display only Instrument cluster params, but not quite the way the above HUD display shows (I love the layout ! amazing UI)

Last night I checked putting my Android phone facing up towards the Windscreen, and the reflection from the Windscreen looked pretty good!! If I can some hoe 'Flip' the display, I can get that working !!

Are people out here who used these standalone HUD devices like the S-200 ?? my friends in US were saying it is pretty distracting, so I was thinking how about trying with my phone first which would be any way cheap!!

Most of the android OBD apps support HUD mode (displaying a flipped layout) but their use is limited to just night driving since the reflections would get washed out during the day due to limited brightness of the LCD.

I use Torque and Dashcommand (good eye-candy) but prefers Torque for its flexibility and extremely good support from the author.
