      Importing Detailing Products

Feeling limited by the absence of good products to maintain your car and don't know where to turn to? Have seen a nice new pot of wax somewhere and wondering whether that site is reliable or not?

Here's a list of site that i have compiled from where you can import some of the best brands / products in Detailing...whether you are a pro or enthusiast, you can order bulk packages as well small items.

Most of these sites I have ordered from and will share my experience and feedback on customer service. Where i have yet to use a site, i will clearly mention so. Also will share some of the tricks and tips that i learned while ordering stuff from abroad.

If you have come across a site which seems reliable and ships to India or ordered from it, please do share it here...

Why more of UK sites than US or anywhere else?

In spite of currency difference the number of UK sites are more below than US because -

      1. Shipping charges from UK sites is less than US sites

      2. Very few US sites are willing to ship to India and either have a minimum $ spend cap or super expensive shipping or both

      3. UK sites will let you order small quantities at cheaper prices (cost+shipping+customs) compared to similar products from US

      4. Some products are developed specifically for South East Asian market and quite often they are released in EU / UK but not in US

Tips & Tricks of Importing Detailing Products

Wanted to share some tips and tricks learnt from my multitude of orders and tussels with Customs / Courier guys

      1. Any order below Rs. 5000 has greater chance of escaping custom duties as per custom laws
      2.
Any order below Rs. 5000 and marked as gift has an even better chance of escaping custom duties (generally if you request some vendors may mark it as gift somewhere on the package)\
      3. Products shipped through Indian Postal system may take more time to arrive but have very high chances of escaping customs duties e.g. Royal Mail, USPS International, Parcelforce, DPD etc
      4. Fedex, DHL etc. any fast couriers will attract custom duties even for a ten dollar purchase
      5. For tracking USPS or any other shipping coming through Indian postal system can be tracked through following link http://ipsweb.ptcmysore.gov.in/ipswebtracking/
dont remember if it works for Royal Mail or not\
      6. Any shipping which gets stuck at customs, they will send you registered letter inviting you to visit and produce the documents required.
      7. Customs duties are upto 30% of total cost of purchase (product cost + shipping)
      8. Most sites will have a pay through paypal option which will let you input your card details without creating paypal account
      9. International debit cards work as good as credit cards Generally your debit card will say if it can be used as such

      ---

      Purchase Advisory:
please avoid buying from Intodetail Ebay UK shop lot of buyers from UK been complaining recently... Don't know about their direct website... So please take before purchasing

      NOTES:

      • Waxattack no longer have direct shipping to india...you have to mail them to get products shipped out
      • i4detailing has introduced a new cheaper shipping option for international order...quite aaffordable now

I always had this doubt regarding using Sonax prods since its easily available here.. AFA megs is concerned, u get half the prods and other half u ve to just give up or import from the above mentioned stores for premium rates..But I see quite a lot of shops offering the sonax products. Couldn't find any proper review reg the pros and cons of the same. Has anyone tried comparing/using the sonax's product line.
