      The word VS is dangerous

XUV and Storme - both are awesome vehicles and both have many problems as well.

If intention is more of offroading - Storme is a clear winner.
      Touring - XUV drives better.

Failing Gizmos - Storme hardly has any.

      Cost of maintenance -
      Storme - unknown
XUV - constant niggles, bushes need replacement every 5-6k kms, failing electronics, projector headlights, led strips etc.

Cost wise looking at the entire range, xuv feels a VFM but storme with its mechanical capabilities also looks good.
The only people who really have a problem with FIAT are the ones who never owned it.

      Rattling Noise - Yes
Suspension - What Niggle ? It throws around when driven on bumpy roads, but that's not a niggle. Its not fixable. Its the way high stance SUV behaves. Been on Scorpio ? Its even more there.
Audio System - Earlier batch vehicles yes, had niggles. But I've not had any issues till date. Mine is the 3rd lot (After the lottery lot)
ESP - Can you point any specifics about this issue please ? Am hearing it for the first time
Engine Fuses - What is that ?
Clutch - Heard many blown clutches
Headlight & LEDs - Not consistent & many have blown off.

So many issues & counting. But till date Mahindra has been good enough in handling this gracefully atleast. No parts have been charged AFAIK.

Both XUV & Storme are unique vehicles in their arena. They've their own advantages & disadvantages. XUV with a phase life of close to 2+ years have so many issues & counting. Storme being newly introduced with a very short span of time spent on the roads *may* look like its trouble free. Only time will tell. To me both TATA & Mahindra have done a good job in their own ways in these products. Period. Are they the best ? No. Have they been better & improved than their previous products ? Definitely Yes !

Rather than troubling when issues are reported, they've been fixing them without much fuss. Unlike Maruti, where they were beating around the bush when a brake problem was reported as a design flaw in the new Petrol Swift, Ertiga & all.

i have a colleague who bought XUV from the first lot (first lottery), even though its easy to drive, compared to a Scorpio it rattles like crazy, i found the middle row cramped and since it has dark interiors its has a claustrophobia effect on people sitting the middle row. The brakes are simply not upto the mark; and bad brake pads have always been a flaw on both the scorpio and XUV. Its done around 10k kms and he has already replaced brakepads 4 times and the whole AC unit had to be re-hauled(not replaced as even he is not sure what M&M meant by it)

      And the list does not end here;
rear parking sensors works sometimes(lol... we keep joking around that his is the only 15l XUV that has a mind of its own)
All doors were re-fitted again after checking for rattles, but some niggles still remain
While driving home late one night, all indicator stopped working and the main headlight wouldn't switch off.
He has been talking about clutch issues lately, but no confirmation yet.

While m&m is yet to publicly acknowledge the issues, it as been calling XUV owners individually to fix issues, which i believe is something i have seen for the first time and this is something of a new trend we have been seeing off late with some manufactures.

AFAIK maruti is the only manufacturer that is yet to recall any batch or vehicle till date or accept that their products have issues.

While I haven't driven the Storme extensively yet, going by what I see around me, I would not recommend anyone to buy a XUV at this moment until all the issues are resolved. I have seen 10+ XUVs being put on a flat bed and being taken to the workshops in the last 1 year in Bangalore alone. And it's disturbing to see friends make it a routine to visit the workshop to get stuff fixed all the time. A brand new automobile should not have these many issues. Rattles are still acceptable, but stuff failing all the time is not.

The last time the industry saw such issues was when Tata launched something new. But I must admit, M&M has had even Tata laughing with the catastrophic quality control failure M&M seems to have achieved on the XUV.

If they can't get the brakes right, then these vehicles have no business to be on the roads.
