I've read about clutch issues on many XUV's till date. Hope your friend is in touch with ASS to get it checked. If any issue, they replace it under warranty which other manufacturers don't do... Ex. Maruti. Again this is with personal experience. I've first gen Swift & its clutch smoked 4 times withing 50K kms. Reason, first gen Swift clutch were nasty. Maruti doesn't accept that & complain on our driving habits !

Who said so, this has been the case with Indian car scene atleast. Never they've accepted / recalled (majority of them. Exceptions are Ford & Toyota) to fix these defects. As & when the customers complain, they get it fixed. Its not just Mahindra.

No even they sail in the same boat. Read about the brake issues in New Gen Swift & Ertiga in our very own forum.

middle row cramped - yes sir, i was surprised by my own observation (i'm not talking about legspace ), after sitting for 5 minutes i wanted to move to the passenger seat asap. I still think it may be due to the dark interiors and the sloping roof design

we drive to cornerhouse near our office at-least thrice a week in his XUV for some icecream

rear bull bar installed? - nop

I think that could be because of the bad thigh support offered in the middle row seats. Sloping roof design, I don't think so. I'm 6 ft 1" & I've never hit my head against the roof, even when I sat for a short while in the 3rd row.

I probably misunderstood the term cramped Cos When myself & my friend another 6 ft guy took the test drive, I pulled the driver seat all the way to glory & despite that my friend was able to sit behind me with still some space left to stretch his leg without hitting the driver seat.

Yep. Going by the conversation i understand he meant it was claustrophobic to sit in the middle row. He dint mean it is not spacious.

XUV niggles - there is a big list, many of them are listed above.

      Storme -
Rattle in rear door - already fixed January onwards.
Falling plastic inserts on seats and some other parts. - Dont know whether its already fixed, this was however reported on abused test drive vehicles.

Apart from this there are not many reported issues. We need ot wait for a month or so to hear the problems from owners.

Before the launch i had Storme for 4 days. I literally raped the vechile in all terrains, everytime i came out with a smile. My friend with XUV who also owns a old safari said he cant even dare to take XUV to places where Safari can. Once he tried a softroading and the XUV started rattling, had to change bushes etc.

The story of friend is very much exiting actually.
He bought a bottle green XUV on an auspicious day. Just few days later his engine seized and tramission shafts broke too

But Mahindra instead of mending his vehicle gave him a Brand new XUV. The only loss was the films on the car.
The only people who really have a problem with FIAT are the ones who never owned it.

      DISADVANTAGES OF XUV500

      • Long wheel base may become difficult in longer run if used in hills
      • Front wheel drive
      • Driveshaft dependant SUV

      • Nil luggage space
      • Bump ride but better to the so called Bumppy fortuner
      • XUV is not practically capable of Off-road
      • Worst thigh support in second row
      • Quality of door pad plastics is worst comparing to STORME.
      • Electronics are not dependable.
      • Un-comfortable ride quality.

      Personal Conclusion
Comparing both vehicles Storme seems to be a true SUV and XUV500 is suitable only outside India for its suspension effect and braking quality
Truth is bitter at time, But have to Accept it

Replacing under warranty is their duty but its too hectic/Irritating to visit the service center every week.

What is the use of having initial pick-up alone without brakes?

Maruti changed the Electronic power steering in Zen old gen.
TML has changed the roll bar bush to Manza
      TKM :Wipers
      Honda : Power windows,Steerings

Nothing is unique to M&M and if they don't do by them selves then the court will take steps thats why they pretend to do something but nothing is done in practicality

There is no solution to the Brakes of XUV500

These are not major problems but they are solved.

I don't understand what different are you saying here Even I said, its with every manafacturer. Yes Mahindra doesn't have a solution to their brake problem on XUV.

As I said earlier, its too early to confirm that this is the only problem in Storme. I neither support Mahindra nor grudge about TATA.
