Of course not! Innova is also grossly overpriced. That's was why I was disappointed to see Evalia's price to be so close to Innova's price.
Oh now I see. Now Evalia does seem priced well. But still, I don't like the idea of a tiny 1.5L engine in an MPV plus the boxy design. But then given good performance (from reviews), great mileage (even after upgrade of tyres) and great space, looks like I should take my line back. Evalia now does seem well-priced![]()

Test drove this "car" yesterday.
Looks- subjective. I think it's ugly.
Space- It's probably the most spacious vehicle you can own for 10 lakhs. The 2nd and 3rd rows fold away to provide a flat loading bay. This is the main reason I was interested in the vehicle, it'd be a breeze taking a couple if bicycles and friends to a trail a few hours drive away.
Ergonomics, visibility- seating felt alright.Visibility to the front and sides is brilliant. You could hide a small sedan behind the Evalia and not see it though. The instrument stalks felt alright. Keyless operation takes a little getting used to. Pedal position isn't very heel and toe friendly, but then ,this vehicle isn't meant to be heel and toed into corners anyway, so, it's forgiven.
Engine is the familiar 1.5 diesel. I thought that it'd struggle to move the mini bus, but its quite lively and the Evalia felt sprightly on the highway. Engine noise gets pronounced above 3k rpm. I didn't see any point whipping it over 3.5k
The gear lever is on the dashboard, and didn't feel too smooth. Tolerable.
Handling-Not an issue for sane drivers. I didn't push it very hard, so can't comment on what it's like for the other category of drivers.
Braking -very nice. Stood on the brakes at 100,and the tail stayed planted. The nose dive wasn't as much as I expected. I didn't feel the ABS activate, I guess that's a good thing. No drama of squealing tires our wriggly rear. Just immense pressure against your chest as the seat belts hold you in place from ending up against the windshield.
Overall-nice vehicle, seriously practical, but compared to what else is available for 10lakhs, I won't be buying this one. This is for the taxi and tour operators. For them, its brilliant. Nothing will come close.
