Have visited Bay6 already. Infact the last service was done by them. Mr. Jaboy was there. They did an oil change and filter change but the issue still exist. Not sure whether they were able to actually diagnose the problem.

Of course they would not have been able to do it.

But please do let me know the next time you drop by, and will help you out. Send a PM to sync up.

The remapped magnum pulls pretty violently all the way to 200...150-200 is quick on a straight line....post 200 the meter will not move what ever you try.

That is because the tune/map limits top speed/vmax to 200 in the magnum. It is lifted on your Cruze(200 to 240), but not on your magnum or BMW (250 stock).

And obviously, we can change vmax on the magnum to approx 240 if you want...

      Hello All,

Sorry for replying to an older post. I felt that this is the only post which is relevant to my question, so wanted to get some help from you all.

I had my Optra magnum remapped through Code6 in Chennai last week. While I really love the power gain, I'm facing few problems that makes me feel little disappointed. So, would really appreciate if you can share your remap experience and help me to understand the issues better.

      My issues:

      i. The mileage has dropped drastically to 6-8 in city with the same driving style. It’s shocking to see the needle dropping so quickly than before considering the car has a poor mileage already, and especially when you were told that the remap would increase both power + mileage. BTW, the mileage in city used to be 10-12 before the remap.
ii. It spits out black smoke on hard acceleration which makes me little uncomfortable when I have to step on the throttle – I’m not a rash driver.
iii. The lower torque pull has reduced. I can only sense the power gain post the 2K RPM mark, barring the Magnum’s known turbo lag.
iv. The cabin feels little hotter than before which is weird.
      v. The power delivery feels inconsistent. I mean sometimes it feels like there's so much power while some other times it’s not.

      About the vehicle:

      Optra Magnum 2.0 LT (2011)
      ODO: 85K
Oil: Shell Fully Synthetic - 5w40 - 5months/3K KMs old
Air Filter: BMC - One year old. I cleaned it with the kit and fixed it back post the remap.
KMS driven post the remap: 150KM

The Code6 team in Chennai (Sajeeth & Hari) were really knowledgeable and kind. They asked me to bring the vehicle back to check the same. But I really wanted to know if the issue is something that's been observed before on Optra magnum.

BTW, it went for the retune during the offer season where I got the stage 1+ for 15K rupees which is really great

      i. Stage 1 - 170HP/380NM (12K)
      ii. Stage 1+ - 190HP/420NM (15K)

The above were the promised figures for Optra magnum, but unfortunately there's no dyno to test the same.

Thank you for the help : -)

      That's stock tune figures only.

Been couple of weeks and over 300+KM in city now. What I realized is that the car's performance has become worse than the stock itself. The engine feels as if a lot of strain on it, so I go as gentle on the pedals as I can. Overtaking in 2nd and 3rd gear in the stock was much faster, smooth and a bliss before which I really miss now. The clutch becomes harder and vibrates slightly as well. The clutch was changed 25K KM before and the Flywheel was 10K KM before. The clutch would have still gotten at least 20K KM more life on it without the remap I suppose. I know clutch wear happens with remap, but never thought it would happen in just few days!

So, now I should either upgrade the clutch and get the cat con removed as suggested to make the engine feel the full potential
      or
Revert back to stock and be happy with it.

I never thought my 2yrs of expectation and chase would turn into a disappointment (so soon) :-(
