Tyrannosaurus rex ,My scorp 33k report

    This is a 2003 november scorpio 2.6glx.

I have completed 33k kms on the rex .

I was smitten by the scorpio when it was released, the rear quarter panels ,the front looks ,its engine ,everything. So took my dad to the dealer and i test drive a green scorpio, what power ,superb, awesome seating position .DAD refused to buy the car stating its too bouncy.

In 2003,i was travelling to Goa ,belgaum very often and needed a robust suv because the roads back then were a quarry.Once again took a test drive of the scorpio ,this time i think there was some change in teh engien ,some belt or chain driven and it was much slower compared to the initial one.Folks at home were fed up with me and my rambling about the scorpio and i bought the scorpio.

GLX was the topend model then.

Superb vehicle, the best of the lot .It can take any abuse ,damn powerful ,handles well etc etc etc etc.Nothing goes wrong with it and its super reliable, potholes ,footpaths are all are a piece of cake.Any bloody car i drive ,in the end i always feel "wish i had the scorp".Every day from the past 7 years it puts a smile on my face ,its pure magic.I feel like 1,the scorpio is a extension of me ,its actually me ,and people who say scorpio does not handle are plain L-BOARDS and need to lear how to handle or learn how to drive ,not blabber about race lines etc etc.

I changed the brake pads, idle bearing till date.

    MODS....stanley interiors,HR mags,real CFL suspension.

    Top speed 167km.

What you will like about the rex:::::::superb throttle response, amazing handlind, suspension is very strong, built very tough, decent A/C,spares are cheap, looks superb ,very agile ,damn comfortable seats.

Dislikes:Brakes can be better, front dive under braking, little bouncy ride quality, less space inside .Name: Image258.jpg

Franky, With all these superb things in the car, you were about to sell it in the month of Jan/Feb 2010 right??? and I was the one who was buying it right???
But frankly speaking it is a fantastic beast. I have seen it once sitting inside the car and you driving it in that HSR layout gully and at the junction that zen getting scared by seeing the way you took the turn.

Completely agree with the points in your review!

Have you thought of adding a Petes tuning box to this? I saw the difference it made on Vijay's Scorpio, and it is good.

Also, what is the CFL suspension? How much is it, and what difference does it make?

    Superb review!

If I'm not mistaken, Franky's Scorpio doesn't have an ECU (like Kumar's Scorpio) - so Pete's or any other tuning box is not possible.

it doesn't ? i think the scorpios came with ECU from the 1st model itself.
Maybe I'll go back and cross verify my info.
even better, franky, look up the manual and let us know if your scorpio does have an ECU.

End of the day, this is all that matters.

And I do hope you do not sell it just because of its age. This is a work horse and with just 33k on the ODO, it is miles to go. Think thrice before letting it go.

Guys, I am not sure where I am wrong. We have a white scorpio slx in kerala. I am not at all comfortable sitting in the middle row. Its soo bouncy from the day we bought it and we were forced to use it only when two guys are traveling. Is there any reason behind this or the stock suspension is like that?
