FAQ: How the THANKs & DISLIKE feature works.

Everyone must have already noticed, we have a new version of the Thank/Dislike button at the bottom of every post.

The use of the Like/Thanks button is to prevent "post boosting". Post boosting is usually what users do to increase their post count by adding one liners like thanks for the post/thread etc.

However, to prevent from certain posts (fights, arguments, completely OT rants) from showing up and cluttering the forum, we now have a new DISLIKE feature. If 3 users click dislike a post, the post will collapse and show like this..



The post will read "This post has been down-ranked. Click View Post to view it".

On clicking View Post you will be able to see the contents of the down-ranked post.

We request our members to use this feature sensibly.

1. Thanks Button - To be used to "thank" a user for a post that was helpful to you. Thanks button allocates 2 points to the Original Poster.

Eg: A user X helped you with a route map/suggestion/has helped you identify and fix a problem.

2. Like Button - To be used if you find the post meaningful and worthy of being given 1 point for "quality".

Eg: A user X posts a technical post that you appreciate and want to reward him for the same.

3. OT (Off Topic) Button - Down ranks a post if 3+ members use it.

4. Infract Button - To be used against posts that are inflammatory, abusive or do not conform with the Code of Conduct on the forum. Everytime you infract a post, the OP loses 2 points from his reputation system. You can read more about it here.

5. Cool Button - Alternative to like/thanks in the ETC section. Doesn't add any points.

6. LOL Button - To compliment the user for a funny post. Doesn't add any points.

7. VFM Button - To indicate that a particular Classified post is "Value For Money". Doesn't add any points.

Kindly request all the users to use the buttons RESPONSIBLY.

Kindly report any mis-use of the buttons by using the Report Post button.

The Dislike button has been replaced by the Off-Topic button. The effect of the button is the same. A X number of users clicking on the OT button will collapse the post. We request all members to regularly use the OT button to mark any post they find OT so that the same can be moved to the Recycle Bin thread.

Members who need to express their displeasure on a inflammatory/offense post can use the Infract button.

All members can now UN-do any button they click! You no longer have to Report a Post to one of us asking us to undo an un-intentional click!
