Even i noted an increase of approx Rs 2.5-3 in comparison to 15 days ago for Diesel in Gurgaon. This is just insane.

Nah, reason is fuel is not in GST. And there is reason why the daily price update was implemented - Jor Ka Jhatka Dheere Se.

Subsidy was removed way back. We used to get fuel at price of today even when crude was priced above $100/barrel.

Dong lots of kms on empty fuel tank and making some records or keeping the engine healthy in long term? Please be specific.
That video reveals that car stores more fuel than it shows so I do not think the engine suffers due to low fuel level as I have never gone below 1bar. Regarding mileage though I wonder if having more fuel all the time helps based on the video posted by rajumar or is it just coasting technique http://www.gearheads.in/showthread.p...permiling-Beat

Social conditioning. Make everything appear normal to the majority and condition them to "live with it" by dangling a magical carrot.

By the way, fuel stations on highways make a profit by selling AdBlue (DEF) for trucks that use the SCR system for BS-4 compliance. Some vehicles show a high degree of variance in consumption of AdBlue, thanks to the erratic traffic pattern. Once the whole country goes BS-6, I would expect all heavy diesels to use AdBlue and it would be interesting to see how the running costs vary.
