Road Rage- How do you control yours?

I don't have road rage, I rarely swear, I do not challenge anyone on the road. period.
No techniques, simply my temperament.

How do I get that kind of temperament?

My road rage days are hopefully behind me. I'm nothing like I used to be 5 or 10 years ago.
I still get angry, but dont react openly. Revenge is a dish best served cold. So, I might get back at the person who's cut me off or been aggressive with me, but it's usually done in stealth.
No, I dont follow them home and slash their tires. I might simply guide them a little into potholes. or make them speed up a little before speed cameras. Or introduce them to another inconsiderate driver travelling on the same road.
I'd like to stop doing that. technically, that is not road rage, since everything looks like i'm in control. but inside, I'm

tadu, like what Rahul said, being on a Scorpio helps make the road, very few want to take a potshot at me, especially when they see all the scratches and dents in the body!!

I am not submissive either, just that I do not waste breath in swearing, stopping and arguing, etc. On the road, anyone trying to act over-smart - overtaking from the left in a 2-lane road, honking unnecessarily from behind to overtake when there is no way anyone can overtake, swiping me in the front, etc - then I also settle down and deny him what he wants. However, I am very careful in doing anything of that sort when I am out of my home territory, don't take "punkhas" when I am on a long-distance highway drive, let him do whatever and get away with it, not worth spoiling my trip being an "activist" or doing a "I will show you" tantrum. However, I do indulge in speed runs to beat him off, which I achieve mostly by what I call "tactical" speeding, which means I manouevre better than he - invariably, I manage to outsmart the guy that way instead of simply driving brashly at high speeds.

I have road rage but i rarely show it out. most of the time i overtake and stop in front of the vehicle who was playing around and not move till I am satisfied.
nearly ran a ministers car off the road the same day the safari saga came into picture.

- Me damn ****ed off with the safari saga, finally finished days work and was heading back home from BEL road towards sadashivnagar police station
all those who have used this road know that this is pretty wide but there is always traffic and morons who come in the opposite lane trying to overtake and shave off precious time
this white corolla with the red light flashing did the same, he was overtaking a bus. and unfortunately his idea was to push me off the road and move on since he had his damn lights on.
If i was in a regular mood i would have given way, but i was not. So gunned the safari, High beams ON and hand on Horn drove straight to him
The driver of corolla was in shock and slammed the brakes to avoid hitting the bus or running into me and he just managed to get back behind the bus at the last second. Put my glass down and showed him the finger. he will never try to do this again hopefully.

my general mantra for controlling road rage is as follows, its very effective though and you guys should try it

1. Grip the steering hard
2. say to your self the following - Its not worth the jail time, Its not worth the Jail time.
3. repeat till calm.

Hopefully my Road Rage days are behind me. Funnily enough, those times I used to ride my Dad's old scooter and the Kinetic and make life hell for cars who used to cut me off. .

Then after getting the Zen was involved in some maniac racing on crowded Bangalore roads quite a few times. But after I started riding my Bike, I started reining myself in and now am quite a patient driver. Ofc, I do get angry and swear and shout at the morons, but only audible inside the car.

Well..I get really really angry if someone tries stunts which might harm me/someone on the road but i calm down to understand that one day that "Genius" is going to be dead/in jail bcoz of his stunts and If I get into road rage with this Genius I might follow him.

However I make it as difficult as possible for people to overtake from left side, honk from behind without any reason, jump a signal, use high-beam and so on!! but if the Moron still gets away with it then its his fate!! and I pray to god to give him wisdom and courage to his family!!

To be a bit more philosophical "God has created Dogs, Donkeys, Pigs and human it’s an individual’s choice to be what he/she wants".

road rage is kind of a "buy one get one free" offer. u drive a Vehicle in Bangalore and get road rage free. past few year my Road Rage was not much. but now i feel its growing day by day. i avoid road rage as much as possible, but what to do when we get a repeated invitation for it in daily drive?

i think best way to avoid is roll up ur car windows and play nice songs of your choice n drive. i do this and at-least when i encounter a maroon before i roll down the windows he/she will fled away

Earlier I used to have a fight on the road due to road rage especially two wheelers or cabies every other day. Off late I am more calm, I try not to lower my windows and increase the volume of the ICE.

But two things which still irritates me is constant honking by vehicles behind me, I follow the same method as Rahul i.e. I let the fellow to pass me stick behind him and honk continuously. The other thing is use of high beam, I usually drive in the city only with my parking light and bumper lights but whenever I come across somebody driving with high beam I switch on my high beam and try to block the other fellows way till he lowers his beam.
