brake fluids have been changed recently [couple of months back]. could be issue with mechanical linkages [booster?]. anyways i'll have it checked thoroughly when i visit my home town. puzzlng thing is it isn't persistent has occurred far in-between to link it with anything. otherwise wagonR has one of the best brakes [feel and stopping power] especially compared to my zen.

Som, your brake MC seals could be giving up and / or your brake lines as well. I may be able to set you up with steel braided lines and better quality MC seals.

sure Venkat! I'll get in touch with you [for my Carbon]. previous query was about wagonR back in Hubli though.

      finally!

      - cross posting from car ownership thread [this thread is one of the top results on Google search]

searched every available online resource regarding Esteem Type II Brake Booster retrofit. i couldn't find any definitive answer apart from it is a 'straight fit'. well the secret is out - it is not a replacement kind of fit: 4 bolt configuration on the brake booster helps in direct fitment in the engine bay and that is it.
      for it to work,
      - brake pedal linkage has to be modified where it pushes against the booster.
      - brake fluid valve positions are different : needs rerouting of fluid lining and Babu [mechanic @Bay 6] said it wasn't a straight forward job [i was not feeling well so didn't have the patience to list down all the details ]

New one [there is no valve pointing down unlike in the Esteem Booster]:
      Attachment 222802

      old Zen Brake Booster
      Attachment 222803

      Attachment 222804

      brake pedal view:
      Attachment 222805

      result:
      - for starters, brakes do work ..
      - there is a reduction in vagueness. the 'pushing the bag of sand' feeling on depressing the brake pedal is gone.
      - there is improvement in braking force as well [even earlier car would stop/ wheels would lock up but it would require considerable amount of force on pedal to do so]. now it is easier to lock the wheels [please note- intention is not to lock the wheels on each braking- testing the braking performance].

though it is not like newer cars but definitely better than the stock zen brakes. i only got the brake-booster changed, all other components remain same.

i'll report back on highway performance after a drive.
