      12v Car Vacuum Cleaner Suggestions

      Friends,

Do we have any good 12V car vacuum cleaners in the market? has anyone used brands like Black & Decker? Planning to buy one as i am finding it very difficult to use the home vaccum cleeaner. Also the with most of the roads in chennai damaged due to the rains it is getting very dusty? Any suggestions on this??

      Thanks!

I don't think 12V vacuum will have enough suction power, but I haven't used one, so best to wait for any actual user

The answer is a big no. These appeared on the market in the 80s and disappeared fast and lately appeared again. My home vacuum cleaner has a 1800W motor and a 12V cleaner will never be able to put out that sort of power.
A 12V cleaner is just a gadget and of no practical use.

I can tell you which BD model NOT to buy - the AV1205. It sucks. In all senses of that word.
The filter is useless - blows out whatever it picks up and deposits it in another part of the car.

As for suction power, my advise is to go for 18V lithium battery powered ones. BD makes a good for for about $120. In terms of practicality go for the one with a swivel suction unit.

Since I'm a DIY sort of a guy and OCD about dust and indoor cleanliness, over the years I've graduated to a product from the same group company of BD called DeWalt. They made a unit called DC500 and it serves my purpose really well. It is mains and 18V battery operated, has a HEPA grade filter and functions as a blower too - immensely useful in drying my bike after a wash. For those looking, there is a dearth of battery operated air blowers. Heard its been discontinued - but one would have to clutch it out of my dead hands - its that good. Got it for $90 during one of Amazon's DIY & home care sales.

If you want to go even further, consider the Dyson DC35 - that one is on my Christmas wish list or whenever my Dc500 hangs its boots. Costs about $300. But is the mutts nuts of handheld vacs. Has an additional car accessory kit too.

Also noteworthy are professional grade units from Makita and Ryobu - don't remember model numbers but in the $400 - $600 ball park.

A simple Car vaccum cleaner purchased for 600 bucks a few months ago works like a charm for me.
      I don't remember the brand.

Jaisun I have been using bergmann tornado for past 8 months or so. Works fine. has enough suction power to pick up dust. Overall satisfied with it.
