Which car can replace Swift zxi in the same segment ?

Hi Friends, my brother-in-law is planning to replace his swift, which is his daily drive as of now.
His driving with this car would be mostly in Bangalore. He drives his Innova for long drives.
Please suggest a car (in fact a list you find in an order to chose from) which hatch can be kind of upgrade to the Swift in terms of comfort style and power.

He treats cars as another machine and cares only as much as he should be (read as - not like us in the forums ). So it has to be reliable as he wouldn't be happy spending his time for his car-troubles.

I am not giving any price range as I would want to propose a list to him and let him decide on what range should he go for.

Since he has a Innova for long drives, I think a petrol car would make more sense? Or does it have to be a diesel?

In petrols, since you mention comfort, style and power, it would have to be:

1. Jazz.
2. I20 1.4.
3. VW Polo 1.6.
4. Punto 1.4.

Among the three the worthy *upgrade* from the Swift would be the Polo 1.6. But the waiting periods could be huge.

It would be better, if you listed out the equipment list your BIL wants on his car. Would make it a lot easier to list out the cars.

If you personally like Jazz, then its fine. Else suggestion will be concentrate on the other three;

2. I20 1.4.
3. VW Polo 1.6.
4. Punto 1.4.

As per my considerations Jazz is not a vfm car and may be thats the reason its less on road than its rivals.

The new swift will be launched in october. It will be wider, longer, taller, handle better and have more space. It's also lighter inspite of all that.
Worthy replacement IMO.
If we're lucky, they might also give us the 94bhp variable valve K12 engine.

Since you mention that he treats the car like a machine. A Jazz or the i20 would do him good. I would prefer the Jazz out of the two. It is reliable, efficient, drives reasonably well, but yes a little expensive. But if I had to choose for myself, it would be a Polo 1.6.

Jazz is in his mind now as it is kind of premium at the moment on the road ;-)
Polo would have been, but he feels he can not wait for it so much after booking.

Jazz will also be more exclusive as no one seems to be buying it, lol... You should be able to get a Jazz in less than a week.

The waiting period on the Polo could range between 2-4 months.
