Need guidance on first car newbee here.

Hi everyone, I am looking forward to buying my first car.
      My requirement are
      1. should come within my budget
      2. thats pretty much it
I'll be selling my bike which should fetch me 50-55K and i could stretch the budget by 5-10K.
And i'm not a moron it DOES sound ridiculous but the thing is i'm done waiting and i want to own my own set of wheels.
As of now i'm looking at only 3 options
      1 maruti 800
      2 zen
      3 nano
Please bear with me, i know how it sounds but i've been waiting way too long for this. Please give your valuable advice.

I suppose you should stick with thefts two. I'd prefer the zen over the 800 - but the chances of getting a well maintained zen may be slim - given how long its been since it was discontinued. I will not recommend the Nano - no reason.. just seems to be a compromise of too many things, thats all.

A friend of mine had a bought himself a m800 for around 40K a few years ago. He drove it for 2/3 years and then bought an Estilo. But he bought the car form his friend, so it was a safe purchase. He had a good experience since the car is dirt cheap to maintain.

I agree with kb100, if possible and within your budget, you should go for a Zen.

You can try for zantro first model or maruti 8000 Both being way popular model in their times, spares won't be much be a problem and it won't be too expensive on the pocket.

sinhead thanks for the suggestion I too am inclined towards zen just the only concern is finding a near average condition car. As it's been on road for a while.
@ amg style how much difference would be in maintaining a santro vis a vis zen..?
As budget is a huge deal breaker.
I have seen santros going dirt cheap on olx

Should be equal. Santro will be easier to get - and its a better car all round as well. Define a budget and start looking. Look hard and dont rush into decisions. Buy directly from the owner where possible - and do get the car comprehensively checked before you decide to pick one up.

The old one is hard to come by. Good pieces are near extinct. Hate to throw spanner in your bubble, but a well maintained Zen with good service history will not fit your budget.

Case to point, I've been offered a little over a lakh for my stock Zen MPFI (jelly bean) with immaculate service record.

Santro will be a good choice like others have said.

For this price, go for Nano. Much better than any 2nd hand car.

inpursuitofpwr I know a well maintained zen would be definitely out of my reach, not that they're easily found. I was hoping to find a near average piece make it workable.
mathuranuj I had exactly the same thought a decent nano is within my budget. It's lot recent and would definitely be lot less mileage clocked, but somehow a lot of people give negative feedback about nano.
Would you consider nano to be a good car for first timer..?
