Again I don't think there will be any significant gain in the leg space in the Ameo compared to the Polo Given that the Ameo is straight lift from Polo unlike Vento/Rapid where the wheel base was stretched which resulted into more cabin space. Ameo's footprint is equal to Polo, both are 4 meter long. We all know Vento is not as good as Polo in handling and suspension department, then why take chance with this second tempered version of the sturdy Polo? Especially when wide range of engine and transmission combos are available to choose in the Polo itself?

But going by the special requirement of space posted in the thread, I think the compact SUVs like Brezza, Ecosport etc fit the bill than a hatchbacks or compact sedan.

      Why is that?
Read here that someone got the Trend variant in 7.0 L On road. Go through The Deals - Page 385 - Team-BHP

I was not aware that you are looking only for the top variant. But still, with discounts, an Aspire makes moe sense.

Jazz resale is poor today and after 3-4 years you can just imagine.

Jack Sparrow I require space enough to accommodate 4 six footers. That's all. It needed to be too big
muztariq I can try that strategy! I need a car with 2 air bags and ABS. That's all. Generally only the top two variants only come with that these days.
AMG Style I visited Nexa. The waiting time for Baleno is a whopping 6 months!

I visited Maruti while returning home today and had a look at Brezza. It looks quite huge and nice from outside. The waiting period is about 27 - 30 weeks for the base and mid variants and 40 weeks for the top variants! So that goes out the window as well. It was too much of a budget stretch anyway.

I will reorder my priorities with some clarity of thought in a while.

EDIT: My requirements in a more objective manner after some thought

      1. Space enough to accommodate 4 six footers.
      2. ABS and Airbags
      3. Good resale value
      4. Boot space of 250 litres or more
      5. Budget 7.5 lacs ex-showroom at max
      6. Require the car in the next 2 to 3 months maximum.

The priority is also of the same order.

What is the car that fits the above bill? What is the one that is most VFM in this category?

I have Jazz in mind. If I don't find any other option I will go for it.

      Hi rharish ,
I was in the same dilemma as you. I test drove the figo diesel about 5 times , each time making me love it more and more. Its fun to drive like no other car in the segment. It doesnt have the classic ford handling but I felt that its as stable as the swift with a much more absorbent ride. But in the end I bought the Jazz diesel even though its much more expensive and was pretty bare bones in features when compared to the Figo . What changed my mind was the sheer amount of space both in the front and back. The I-dtec in the jazz seems much quieter when compared to the city and amaze. Its not as powerful as the figo but it can keep up I believe. Its a stress free engine which is almost petrol in character with no lag at all, 120 km/h comes at just 2200rpm where its very quiet and smooth. It offers all the practicality of a 4m sedan with much more compact dimensions.

Any update on this thread rharish? Finalized anything or went for any test drives?

One of my friend is looking for either i20 or EcoSport. Will do TD with him when I am back to Chennai by June end.

rksingh1 Did multiple test drives and it seems I will mostly go with the Ford. Next few days I am traveling for work. So once I am back, will book and take delivery asap.

The priority list does not include Power and Handling. So it is safe to predict that Jazz Petrol would be a better choice over Figo Diesel.

Figo Diesel offers better engine and better dynamics over Jazz. For other requirements such as space, resale, bootspace etc. Jazz is hard to beat.

So I would suggest Jazz but please do mind that Jazz has a poor low end, specially with AC on and hence can be a tiring to drive in a bumper to bumper traffic.
