VW Polo headlight bulb upgrade for low and high beam ( double barrel )

      Hi

Need help and advise, want to upgrade my current bulbs in VW polo tdi double barrel. So suggestions and where in Pune can I have it done would really help.

      My driving :
70% on highways and 30% in city. Hence need something good and powerful, at same time does not harm the headlamp assembly.

Saw few options on vagtune, though was unclear which one to go for.

Secondly, need to find out who will be good to do fitting for same in Pune or Mumbai. I can always travel to mumbai to have it done too.

      Thanks in advance !

The problem in the double barrel is that the connectors are different so fitting higher watts bulbs are not possible without cutting the wires.

If the wires are cut warrant is voided.

I had tried my luck with all but in vain.

Let me know if there is any snap on. I would also be interested

This section is full of lighting upgrades. VW electronics do not take kindly to bulbs upgrades - you will have to stick to stock wattages. You can look at the Osram Nightbreaker and such which promise more light at the same current draw.

I replaced the OEM ones with Philips Extreme vision Plus ones. Not as Bright as Projectos but there is a improvement in Visibility by 35-40%. Its more white but still a little yellow. I also changed fogs to Philips blue Vision ones. Together it makes a good Difference in Highway Drives. I bought the bulbs from http://www.powerbulbs.com/ . Their Pricing is good and shipping is free and now they have a 20% off offer going on.

If you are looking for serious upgrade can go for projectors but if you dont want to mess with warranty you can do try these. they are of the same spec as the OEMs.

VW workshops can do this and but will cost your around 13-14K for a pair.

+1. This is safest and cheapest bet to improve the light without need of tempering any hardware or wiring. Also pay bit of attention on adjusting the focus using the screws available on the the headlamp assembly, this can also do the wonders if done perfectly.

Do you know any specific workshops in Mumbai / Pune. I believe my question was very much centric to if someone can name the places.

      Thanks anyway.

This is my lights in weak daylight with the Osram Nightbreakers 60/55W. I only installed a relay kit and standard wattage bulbs as VW does not use relays for headlights.

I know that headlight upgrade would definitely cause warranty issues with VW. Hence planning to upgrade the bulbs alone in my Ameo HL TDI. Can anyone tell me what is the stock wattage for the bulbs in the polo/ameo 2016 double barrel model. Based on this I would like to search online on best bulbs. Also if anyone can chime in with good suggestions on the bulbs, that would be a good help. I am looking at changing all the lights (dim, dip and fog). Thanks in advance.

Ameo uses the same spec as of polo. In polo Both High and low beams of double barrel Headlights are H7 55W/12V & Fog lamps are H8 35W/12V

If looking for increasing performance you could either go with Philips Extreme vision plus or Osram Nightbreaker unlimited. If you could spend a little more could get Osram Nightbreaker laser/ Philips Racing Vision which are newer versions of the above mentioned.

jamz Thanks. Yes actually i was looking at the same ones while posting my question. But was not sure if those would fit mine. Anyways would be buying only dim ones for now since the price for the latest one is close to Rs.2550.
