I own year old Skoda rapid. This is black package and the looks appealed to me. But now i am facing issue with the headlight. Most of my driving is in the city. I rarely use it for highway drives.
But in recent drives i noticed that in the night the headlights are ineffective. The illumination is good enough for me in a city ride but on highway its very bad. After talking to the SKODA service rep, i understand the blackened headlights is cause for it and he was not even interested to listen to any solution i have thought off so i did not pursue on it much with those guys..
Looking for solution i have considered one of the 2 options, either to upgrade to Bi-Xenon HID set or figure out a way to change the glass with clear headlight cover.
The latter option might be costly one as i am not sure if i could just change the glass and will need to change the whole headlight setup. Can i replace only the blackened cover of the headlight assembly?
The former solution is what i am considering since the headlight consists of projection setup. But i am not sure if a HID can be used in the existing projector setup and will it make any difference to illumination?
I also want mention that I am not very keen on going for HID. The rapid uses H4 bulbs which means the high and low beam is in single bulb and since i do not use much of the high beam and use it more for flash/warning etc or maybe in total dark roads/ghats section, i might find it difficult to use or learn to use it as is.
I am looking for the most cost effective method which can also be done professionally either by a good garage or by A.S.S in bangalore. Not interested is messing too much with the wiring/electrical's of the car which is why i am also looking at other option to HID upgrade.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated..
