Congrats Aston on the delivery of your car!!!

My experience has been bad and getting worse. The prospective delivery date has moved from an initial 05.11 to not 30.11 with no end seen.
I picked it up with VW India, but they redirected my complaint to the dealer who doesn't know when the car will leave the plant.

Did you face any such issues?

Can anyone else help in figuring out what the next steps should be?

I did face some delay but that was okay since I didn't want to take delivery so early. While booking the car delivery date was estimated around 10th of Oct but then I found out that it'll get delayed and will come by 25th of Oct. Finally the car did come by Diwali and since I was away on a vacation I took delivery in Nov. Overall no complaints.

Update: My car did not get delivered to me with my SA stating that they need cash to do registration which they don't have.
I am not fed up with VW SAs taking customers for granted even when they don't have many...

I have moved ahead with cancellation of the car and am now looking at a different car.

Running into a lot of people lately saying "I told you not to buy a VW"

I am glad you did. Not many can handle the tantrums a VW puts up
BTW I got my car within a week
But there is no other car quite like this.

Don't wish to create a new thread. I wish to replace my Rust Bucket (Rust Bucket) and have shortlisted the following automatic hatches:

      1. Hyundai Grand i10 - 7 lakhs - My first choice. However I'm apprehensive about the mileage. My Santro gives me less than 10 kmpl.
      2. Maruti Baleno - 8.25 lakhs - VFM. However seems to be a light car. Safety is a question mark.
      3. Maruti Ignis - 6.70 lakhs - Seems to be a good alternative to the i10.
      4. Nissan Micra - 7.15 lakhs - Had driven a manual Micra Active a couple of years back. Simply loved it. It felt as if the car was designed keeping my body structure in mind.
      5. Honda Jazz - 8.86 lakhs - Expensive for the 'S' variant. But very tempting since I have enjoyed my Honda City.

I am not considering the following:
      1. Tata Tiago - Automatic only in the top variant which is priced very close to the i10/ Micra/ Ignis.
      2. Renault Kwid - Unsafe tin. Should be banned.
      3. Tata Nano - Too basic. Uncomfortable. Unsafe.
      4. Hyundai i20 - Extremely expensive. 10.50 lakhs. Forget it.
      5. VW Polo - Too cramped. And expensive.
      6. Maruti Wagon R - Simply not desirable. Would look out for buyers on the very day I take delivery.
      7. Pseudo sedans like the Dzire/ Xcent/ Amaze - I'd rather buy a full grown well-built hatch than a compromised sedan.

I'm keen on the upcoming Maruti Swift. However I read that Maruti plans to sell the Swift at a price higher than the Baleno? Is this true?

My original budget was at a maximum of INR 6 lakhs. However I guess I'll have to stretch a bit in order to make a good purchase.

I'm in no hurry. But yes, I need to replace my Hyundai Santro for sure. I still don't know whether I will replace the Santro or just buy another car. Because I hate selling my cars.

I feel its between the Micra, i10 and Ignis. Resale wouldn't matter because I will keep the car until the oil wells dry up in the Kingdom.

Its going to NEXA,so price maybe higher.

You should also consider brio, figo and ertiga AT.

+1 for Brio, Figo. Out of his choices I would pick the Baleno. . These three cars are fun to drive in their own ways. anand_h

Too bad you have eliminated the most exciting AT hatch there is the Polo GT TSI. I came from a Santro and my second car Polo GT TSI beat the Santro fair and square in every department including space. But ya if the front seats are adjusted for an above average height driver, then rear is a bit cramped.

Guess what, there is one area where I still find Santro more enjoyable than Polo. Steering feel. Yes however precise an EPS is, it loses out on the natural feel of a HPS. Santro is really lovable. I totally understand why you don't want to sell it

The Baleno is already being sold at the Nexa. So even if they plan to sell the Swift at Nexa, are they positioning it above the Baleno?

      The Brio is too cramped.
The Figo Automatic is too expensive.
The Ertiga doesn't fit in my criteria - I need a hatchback, not an MPV. I have a budget of 6-7 lakhs, not 9.5 lakhs.

The Polo is not in my budget. As already mentioned, I had set a budget of INR 6 lakhs. However I am willing to stretch it a bit.
However I will not stretch it like a relative of mine had. He had entered the car market to exchange his ageing Indica for an Alto. Ended up stretching to the Wagon R, the i10, the i20 and finally bought the Vento

Since you have Ritz I think Ignis is more or less same as far as handling and engine goes. So may be go for Gran i10. Jazz CVT is expensive and I think Baleno as well. Also new swift I thought will be in between Ritz and Baleno
