We are talking about a petrol car here. And I dont feel 15K/yr is cheap though (My driving is only about 5-7K/yr). I have owned Hyudai Santro for a good 9-10 year now and haven't faced any issues. I am not sure about the norm though. The discrepany rksingh1 was mentioning also refers to the availability of Hyundai parts vs that of VW parts which I agree to some point (Got the same review from my dad too). It all comes down to the reliability of the car

1.2 TSI is one of the good engines you can get in a hatchback. If you take the Power/Torque figure also, Polo stands out.
I know cc's dont matter as much as the bhp and the torque. CCs do decrease the fuel efficiency though (i think?)

All being said, I cant wait for the TD this weekend

More rumors about the Baleno RS

A CVT version also seems to be due.

      Even more confused now

Just done with the Test Drive
The SA did not have a Polo GT TSI with him for TD (Stating that a minor change in the Polo is coming and they even got rid of the TD car), So he sent a Vento TSI instead.

I would say that i expected a bit more from the car (looking at the reviews).. but then again, I didn't floor it in the S mode although the drive was quite comfortable in the D mode.
It was my first experience driving an automatic car and felt quite different, not having to press the clutch and shift gears

The SA didn't have any idea of what the upcoming modification were. Also, he isn't expecting any discounts/offers this festive season on the TSI specifically.

What do you think I should do? Should i wait for the Baleno RS to be released and take it for a spin before making a final decision?
I am anyways going to wait for the festive season regardless (I don't completely trust the SA on his claim of no discounts esp with a serious competitor entering the market)

Yes, please wait. Afterall, you being 100% convinced must be top priority. If you are not getting great offers in Festive season you will certainly get many in Dec. Year end offers typically tend to be better.

Not sure how urgent it is for you to get the car!!

Buying in Dec leads to the car always being classified as a older year.. right? Is that advisable looking at the resale value impact? (Although I haven't sold my 9 year old Santro yet)

For people who are going to keep their car for more than 5-6 years, this year end thing holds no value. This is mainly psychological than anything else.

I bought my XUV the same way. I bought it it 2015 and took delivery on 1-Jan-2016. It doesn't matter to me as I am going to keep it for next 7-8 years at least. VW also has good year end offers.

      Makes sense...
Lets see what discounts kick in

I am following Team-BHP discussions too to check in on the offers and modifications to the car

Around Oct of 2014(festive season) , I was also looking to buy car. There were some discounts, but I was asked to wait for December. Come December, the dealers kept calling me about good offers, but guess what, I was told (by family) to wait for Jan, 2015. So that I get next year on registration. All this wait made me upgrade from Swift to Swift Dzire, as I had more money to spend.
