      Brake pads for Qualis

      Dear Experts
My Qualis has run 75K + Kms and during recent service, dealer told me that Brake shoes / Pads need replacement since the thickness is 2mm. When I enquired the cost, he said, it would be around 8K approximately

Hence, requesting the experts here to clarify the below doubts

      1. Is 2 mm Thickness an indication to replace the brakes ?
      2. If yes, Which are the better brands for replacement, I googled and found Bosch, TVS and Rane are popular brands. Which is the better one. Please provide Positives and negatives of these brands

Also, I have a feeling that at Full Load (Nine people in the car), the car does not move freely. (Feels like brakes are holding the car) I dont see this effect during NO Load( 1 person driving the car). Recently, with 9 people in the car, i was trying to uphill the car and i heard a thud noise at the back. I immediately, emptied the car and took the car back. Is there anything that has got damaged ? Post this, i also started noticing that the wheels of the car (Not tyres) getting Hotter

Is there anything serious in the car? Please suggest your solutions for these issues

      Regards
      Girish

For brake pads just go with the Company provided brake pads. Don't look outside to be on the safer side.

Thanks for the lightning response. However, the company quotes exhorbitantly high around 8K + Labour charges where as the above mentioned brands cost somewhere around 2 K.

Hence, going for the best of these brands

As back2u4u suggested, i too will suggest you to go for company provided break pads. you cannot just risk your breaks out of there. Also, you'll see difference in quality of the pads from ASS and outside dealers.

You can try searching for pads from outside ASS. make sure they are genuine. you'll get discount too, and then get them installed at any nearby garage.

Let me tell you what I faced. I bought Brake pads of TVS Girling for 700 Rs whereas Brake Pads from MASS was 1600. The drawbacks, in 10K the brake pads were gone and also the brake dust was crazy. So better go with Company provided which lasts 40K for Swift Dzire.

True, while i was having chevy Beat, i once opted for aftermarket break pads for 800/- . the lasted for almost 10K kms. however from ASS, they charged me 1600 + labour.
they lasted for almost 50K. Also, at that time the service agent guy told me showing that these are made of leather which your aftermarket ones are not.

For Qualis following options are available in brake pads

      TVS - 850
Roulunds - 850 (Very good quality)
      BOSCH/KBX - 780

All above are good brands and you can take call accordingly. In my opinion, Roulunds is best among lot.
