Dinesh and Lightening, thanks for the feedback. I too got a feedback that from dealers that i10 rear wheel alignment isnt required.I suspect it is more of the reference line not being correct. I will anyways visit hyundai dealers to get this sorted out.

Guys, Could somebody recommend a good shop in Chennai for Wheel balancing and alignment? I have done almost 9K on my Vista and thought that now may be an appropriate time for balancing and alignment. Also, pls let me know the appropriate costs for the same. KLN motors,Chennai, had quoted INR 800 for the same.

Again the same question after i read the thread completely rear alignment not be done is the rule only for i10 or all hatchbacks? I never saw the mechanic doing the rear alignment for my Wagon R (not sure though, since paying attention to these aspects only after reading this thread)

There is a place called Ramesh Tyres (Right side on Taramani Road going towards Velachery) Decent work and rates.
Almost opposite to Wangs Kitchen (left side) on that road.

I also went to a place on OMR Right side after CTS Thoraipakkam. Some MRF exclusive place.
The chap there who did the work tried to convince I had to change my 4k Km old trye for a new one

Work was ok otherwise. Rate was so so

Guys, I did the Wheel Alignment and Balancing for my Vista today at Lal(Gopalapuram). Cost was INR 600.00. Also, the bill talks about 1st and 2nd free check-ups. What's done on the free check-ups?

Wheel Alignment is for keeping the wheels in straight line. So after driving some 2k kms of the first alignment there will be a sitting of the suspension and the alignment wil be a bit off and so they usually give 1 or 2 checups after 1-2k kms. Otherwise it will result in inner tyre wear. Some mechs overdo it and result in outer tyre wear. So chekups are nessecary to set it straight before half the tyre goes bald.

Almost all hatches and small cars need only front alignment because of indepndant suspension while the rear has only a straight axle. So dont worry about rear aligning. But if the rear wheel seem to be at an angle like it was steered, then your axle is bent. You have to drive really harsh for that to happen.

Balancing need be done only if you experience steering vibrations or you frequently bend your rims falling in potholes and also when you get new tyre/tube/rim/alloys.

Except for the Esteem and Baleno where alignment has to be done for the rear too.

Question: Whenever people change the flat tyres, do we have to again get the wheel alignment done?

Lets say the front left wheel has a flat and I change it with my 5th Tyre. A week later my right wheel is changed as well for the same reason. Will there be Alignments issues? does one have to get the wheel alignment done every time there is a flat in any of the front tyres?
Honk if you want to see my finger!
