Swift Dzire problem when rev past 2k rpm....

My 8 years old Dzire vdi has been acting weird recently. It has clocked around 66K kms and I got it serviced at 60K kms from a very trusted old expert mechanic near my place. The problem is that when I rev it past 2k rpm in 3rd and 4th gear, I can see the tachometer going up and just when it reaches 2.3k rpm, I have my foot on the gas pedal but the car suddenly acts as if the clutch is not fully disengaged (like when its partially pressed) I can hear the engine revving like its idle and the tacho falls for 100 - 200 rpm and again starts rising up steadily even though the clutch is never touched during this process and my foot is on the gas. When the tacho again starts rising, I can hear the engine note changing from revving on idle to being in a gear again.

My guess is that its either a problem with the clutch or with the turbo intercooler but I need the experts out here to shed some light on whats going on. All this happens very quickly and would not be noticeable to a third person immediately.

appears that the clutch is worn and needs replacement.
Are you having more issues in Inclines,Ghats?

The intercooler has nothing to do with it. Your clutch is slipping. Drive up a hill on fourth and floor the accelerator. You will finr the engine increasing speed but not the car. Another test you can do is to pull up the hand brake and try to drive off in first. Just pull it up 3 or 4 clicks.

Haven't been to any hill station in a long time so can't tell if the problem occurs there. Will try to check with the hand brake pulled up.

You dont need to drive around to find a hill. Just find a slope and try to take off in second gear.
