The first service got done at 11000km. Car has done about 12500km till now and continues to please. I had all the required materials for the service and hence was able to use it for the same. Service cost came to 16,000Rs including parts, labour and some rat repellant coating (not sure of any use) and AC vent cleaning (just a good feel). Placed order for more parts for the next service. The big work coming up is the fixing of the broken windshield where the crack has become quite big. Overall, an OK service. Big expenses in the pipeline are insurance renewal and extended warranty by the end of the month.

Why order it for next service now itself? Won't it be available off the shelf.

Regarding rat repellent, tobacco strips works well for me till now. Have to replace it once in 15 days & costs Rs.80 for a month. Out of curiosity, how much FE on city and highway does it returns?

They usually don't stock parts for slow moving stock like the GTI. I order it so that things are available at short notice. Just one less thing to worry about.

oh..that is helpful. Please put a pic of this. Quite a big worry for me presently. What do I ask for at the local kirana store and any recommendations in placing them? For the GTI, on highways I get around 14kmpl at 120kph speeds and on ghats the FE comes down to 10kmpl and thereabouts. Cruising in high gears at good speeds is way more efficient than quick bursts of acceleration and braking at much smaller speeds for fuel efficiency like what we encounter in ghat sections.

Front Brakes, oil, air and AC filter, AC vents cleaning and rat repellant plus labour. Roughly, the parts is 12k (oil, brakes and all put together) and the labour is the rest. I thought it would be about the same for the GT TSI too.

Whenever i go for trip, i will make sure these tobacco strips are placed afresh...I don't want to get stranded on a touring place due to rat bite - After some 12-15 days, these tobacco strips will get dried out & thats the time for replacing it with new. Rs.80 per month (once in 15 days) is way much cheaper & take jus 5-10 mins. Attached pics are the placement of strips on Endy.
