Definitely, we will stay for one night at Gulbarga and spend a day visiting the sights there, please do share info on good eating places. i would love to experience authentic Khanavalis as they are called in that part of Karnataka. There is certainly opportunity for 1 lunch and 1 dinner at Gulbarga.

Had lunch here during my visit in last December on a recommendation and was not disappointed. You may also consider buying the chutney powders from here.

      Gurudatt khanavali
https://goo.gl/maps/ymVovgYifRsOld one. Liked by many. There is minimal menu in these restaurants. You can simply have a meal.

      Maratha khanavali Non Veg.

      Shivaji Maratha
      https://goo.gl/maps/YzhLK9vDW7N2
Best place on earth for non-veg food. Opens relatively late by about 1 PM to 1 30 PM. Very small and basic place, though. Biryani, and Chicken Masala are recommended.

      Chaddi Hotel
      https://goo.gl/maps/ca3gRyc3UML2
Old, time tested place. Very similar to Shivaji Maratha. Most loved by old-timers.

      Jai Bhavani

Even more of a basic place. At your own risk, depending on your hygiene sensibilities. Gulbarga is a small town. Good Maratha style Biryani, though.

      Sweet - Kalakand :

      Hotel Maharaja

Ask for Kalakand it a milk based sweet. Tea and Samosa are also good in this restaurant.

You might have noticed how sp****ly populated these parts are - a people subject to abysmal levels of poverty and prone to roadside defecation. This is one area Karnataka seems to have forgotten. How can anyone expect the roads to be better?

As for scrapping the under-body, I suppose you have never been on the picturesque Hiriyur - Bellary stretch, interspersed with countless humps to deter the marauding mining trucks (beasts). Some of these humps could easily make a Honda City seesaw.

I was looking for typical touristy itinerary for North Karnataka, from KSTDC website. They have two tours as below

This one is the Basavanna Heritage Spiritual trip from Gulbarga to Basvakalyan, Koodalasangama, Basavana Bagewadi, Almatti Dam and Bijapur.

This one is the Historical Hampi - Badami - Aihole - Pattadakal trip from Bengaluru. I have skipped the Hampi part from this screenshot as i have already been there few years ago.

These two itineraries provide me typical route plan and how much time one needs at each of these places. Based on this i need to make my plan or itinerary, plus i need to add missing places / sights based on my interest.
