      YAMAHA RX 100, 1996

A new member in the family....a stock Yamaha RX 100, 1996. It has done just 15800 KMs so far. Got it from a friend, a very dear friend.
I was always inclined to have RX100 in my stable but never found any bike worth owning and suddenly this came just like that and now owned by me.
Reminds me of my college days of late 80s!!!!
      Here is a pic:

Now am just riding it to understand the behavior pattern and note down the issues before doing any job on it. The gear oil and 2T oil are in excellent condition as my friend changed it very recently. So riding it for about 500- 800 kms will give me enough experience of its mechanical condition and time to source Genuine Spares.
      Few visible things are-
      1. Instrument light not working
      2. Front and rear brake lights not working.
      3. Gear lever shifter lever oil seal leak.
      4. Exhaust tube cut for shrill sound.(I want it stock)
      5. linkages, moving parts quite rough-needs WD 40
      6. Front tyre needs replacement- its still original one manufacturing date" Feb 1996"(Rear tyre is brand new)
      7. Little rust under the seat, joints of chassis.

Will keep posting the DIY WIP pics with details.

Any one has any idea about RX 100s Service Manual as to from where can I download? i have been able to find the Spare Parts catalog online.
      Regards

I visited the authorized service center for Yamaha Bikes...and to my sweet surprise they have almost all spare parts for the RX 100. Buying the genuine Parts experience is unmatched as it gives not only the performance but also piece of mind, instantly bought a few spares, which could recollect, for the bike. I was surprised to note low cost.

A few days back noticed oil level low in the 2T Oil Tank, decided to refill it as I had already bought @T oil from YSS. On opening the Side Panel I noticed there was oil leak around the Oil Level Lens. Tried tightening it but it was still leaking. So next day went to YSS and asked if he has the Rubber Gasket for the Oil Lens(I wasn't expecting such an item's availability) and he nodded -"Yes, its available!!!! Surprised...bought it. Changed the gasket, cleaned the tank and also took opportunity to clean the hidden areas around oil tank and applied WD40 liberally. Here are certain pics

congratulations on acquisition and great going!
nice to see a RX100 with such low miles on odo!
somehow I've not been comfortable using oil pump - but it is the correct way of using the lube for engine.

there is a bleed screw on the oil pump, you will see a philips screw right after taking off the oil pump cover. Loosen it till all the air in the pipe goes out and you see a steady stream of oil flowing

Yes....aware of it....but in so many years the oil pump cover has never been opened...the screws are rusted but for one...so couldn't open it so had to resort to this method, at least am sure there was no air . Moreover am waiting for the Oil Pump inner seal and oil seal...the day I receive I will open the pump and replace as its leaking as of now.
