What adds to the confusion is that an overlap of two or three months is allowed.
Wow same thing happened to me with my City IVTEC in 2010

But i do not personally follow these criteria. Example, My Storme mostly does 15-16 kms in home-office-home duty. Rarely does it see highway (total 17000 kms in 3 year 2 months) . Storme (or lets say Safari) was an emotional buy for me, directly from heart, without any application of consideration like usage pattern, number of seats etc. My Vista (diesel) has run just 32,000 in 7 years and 8 months), again highly under utilized despite being a diesel.

In fact resale value does not matter if one keeps his/her car for long.
      1. What you do with un-used cars? I believe you have a godown or something for safekeeping? Even my Useage pattern is very similar. No since since 3~4 months at a stretch for some of my cars.

      2. Safari purchases, Are always like that. Same pinch!

Actually my Alto is UP registered with KA road tax paid. I do not have NOC for transfer and i am lazy. So it is just lying idle since Oct 2015.

Before i bought Storme, i bought my neighbouring plot, as i did not have place to park anything larger than Vista inside the house premises. I had got partial shade and flooring done, so after leaving out garden, i can park 5 cars in that plot (now a car park). Now I have added a room there, and Alto has moved out to outside parking. It needs to go now as it would need a FC in 4 months which i cannot get done in Bangalore. I had even got enquiries from some neighbours for rental to keep their cars there, but i did not want that as it is troublesome and moreover my kids use it to play without need of us watching them.

Not sure about used car market. I think car resale value goes down pretty quickly no matter what. I am going to keep the car as long as possible. I think till 2030 it is safe. Diesel BS VI engine are suppose to be more expensive. But that will be popular on SUV type car which lot of people seem to like. Personally I will definitely want to buy a nice petrol manual car. May be even hybrid. I prefer hatch, sedan
