      Driver license

      Hi,
I have got my license around 2015 when my mom was very ill and no further options of transportation available easily. In that situation when I applied for my license i got it but with one glitch that is the year shown 2 years later. That is my age is shown 2 years younger.
My question, while filing the insurance i also gave my driver license id and aadhar no. Will it Crete any situation further? As until now since 2015 i have no issue at all as haven't claimed anything.
      Thanks.

light.. Better get it rectified. You should be having Aadhar or some other proof with the correct DOB. Provide that and then get the DOB corrected in your license. In the long run you will not run into compliance/wrong info issue

Let me add my query here, rather than creating a new thread.

My DL is expiring in March-2019. It was issued from Hazaribagh when I was there for couple of months 15 years back.

What is the least hassle way for me to 1) Get it renewed 2) Get a new one.

For renewal, getting NOC from Hazaribagh is not possible - no one is there now. Will it be a challenge to get a new one? Should I get an agent to help me get a DL or how convenient the RTO offices in Bangalore are for issueing DLs?

When I had to renew my DL (there was a change in RTO as my residence address has changed) I simply walked into a driving school. I ended up paying 2k to the driving school but I got the job done in a one day and it was hassle-free.

I got a new LL issued today.

I went for my LL to Rajajinagar RTO, 10 mins walking distance from my office. I went through the agent, paid 4500 and that was a mistake. If you have documents good, no need getting an agent. Its a lesson learnt for me.

Everything can be done online via sarathi portal. Filling that form and uploading documents is as easy as booking a movie ticket. Once done, take a printout, no photo need to be pasted, photo uploaded online is enough. Sign at the right places, attach your age and address proof, (for me it was passport for both), and you are done. Fees can be paid online. After all is done, just go here and ask anyone for LL test room. It can easily be spotted. Give the form the lady sitting in front of the LL room, she'll inspect, take the form and then ask you to wait for the computer test.

Depending on the queue, someone will call out your name. I had to wait nearly an hour due to 20 people in front of me. You don't need to queue up, the forms are kept sequentially and people are called in the same order. In the meantime, you'll get the password for your test on your mobile. Go inside, finish up the test and you're done.

Should cost you only 350 rupee exact. Its easy, hassle free and no one ever asks you for extra money. I can't ask for a govt office to be better than this.

You pay an agent to get a drivers licence? How does that work?
When I took my licence in 1965 in Malaysia, I paid an agent 50 rm for a guaranteed pass. I got only 3 questions and those questions were to identify the red, amber and green in a traffic light. Then I drove a round around the office, about 100 meters.
      I passed.

So the agent acts like a broker and helps you complete the formalities. You still need to visit the license office to get the license issued and complete all the test. Since many a people don't know the process and govt processes can be lengthy and cumbersome, agents take advantage of the situation and make easy money.

While this might still have worked if agents had any control over the RTO - but in today's online world, they have zero influencing power and all they do is to help follow the same online process for extra fee.
