      Spare tyre conundrum??

      Hello GH's,
      I own 2011 Swift Vxi and it is shod with Michelin XM2 in 195-60-R15 profile. The spare wheel is factory supplied MRF tyre in 14 inch size. I am confused as to whether I keep the factory supplied tyre as spare tyre or get 15 inch tyre in above mentioned profile with new steel rims.
      I have done almost 35000 km on Michelin's and I think they will last another 35000 km or so. There seems to be negligible signs of wear and tear. So here comes my other dilemma as to which tyre to go for so that my next set of tyres match the tyre in my spare wheel.
      I am happy with XM2 but need equivalent or better tyres for my next tyre change which is not going to happen for atleast 2 years.
      So guys help me out.

      When changing I'd retain the factory supplied spare and use it for the spare purpose only. Cash saved. Do a 4-way tire rotation with the main tyres (as opposed to 5-way).

      I do the same
      In fact a couple of cars, there was a minor difference in size as well after I changed

      I never do this. I thought this was a practice of the past. How would one rotate the wheels of some cars that have different sized tyres in the front and rear?

      Not in India as far as I know, only a couple of cars here and there
      Plus luxury cars worldwide dont come with spare tyres or have space saver tyres

      Even if all four tyres are same size, if it is a unidirectional pattern, the only rotation you can do is, interchange the front and back tyres on the same side.
