      Foul Smell in new KUV100NXT

Admins request to please move this thread to appropriate discussion if not relevant here.

My new KUV100NXT have foul smell from the date of delivery. Sales person suggested that it will go away in week time. But this smell still haunt me while starting AC. It smell like damp old cloth / mud smell - Its difficult to describe but enough to give headache.

4-5 times its been taken to service center and various options are tried.

      1. run car for 15-20 minutes in AC Heat mode, so that mold can dry out.
      2. Tried anti fungal chemicals to get rid of suspected invisible mold - No luck.
      3. Use suppressant - odor neutralizer.
      4. Inside carpet is clean, Ducts / air filters are thoroughly inspected.
      5. AC coil which reside below dashboard needs to be replaced (pending).

Smell comes more when only blower is running. AC cool air suppress the smell. Its always reproducible.

Any more ideas / Solution most welcome.

      Thanks
      Anil

Try Megs Odor Eliminator especially on the carpet and roof areas. Is your Seat fabric material or Art Leather ? If Fabric, spray generously on the seat as well.

Also spray 3M Aircondition Foam Cleaner in the AC vents and run the AC for good 15-20 mins.

It might have possible that a Rat has entered Aircon ducting and deposited some Dander/Debris there.
Mahindras don't have Rat grilles (Tatas have). I had to pay 2k to install rat grille on my XUV.

Since its a new car and issue is since delivery, You should make a ruckus and ask them to replace the car.
Because solving this will need dashboard dismantling and rattles may start.
      Good luck.

I understand, They are working on it but looks like no positive assurance that they found something. Its been a week fingers crossed.

      Thanks

Solving this will require to change AC ducting, AC blower or AC heat exhcanger depending on whats smelling. All these parts are expensive and need extensive dismantling of the car.
