      ICE-Land - v7.0 - A Full Circle .. and More

So the prelude dates to around August 2018. It was me and my dad going to our little farmhouse on the outskirts in the Ertiga.

The road was under construction (still is :l) and the car was just rattling and shivering and bouncing all over the place. I knew dad was ****ed off since just a week before he was here in the Ameo and he had no such expression on his face.

We reached the place, finished our work and drove back. As soon as we exit the main road and get back on the under construction road again, he goes, “ What a pathetic car”

We both knew what this meant. It was time to change the car. If there’s one thing my father is even slightly impulsive about it’s the cars in the house.
He and even I have not been too fond of how the Ertiga had aged. It was not a pleasant experience save for the Engine (grossly underpowered) and the low service cost of Maruti.

The interiors, switchgear, NVH and overall feel of plastics and cabin had not gone down well with us. The decision was made to sell the car almost on the dot and get a car before the end of September to get the maximum taxation benefit.

My requirement was simple. It had to be a small MUV/SUV sized car since I need one to haul stuff and not to mention the constant bad roads we end up with in Amritsar for the sake of some project or the other.

It would not be a Maruit so the Brezza was out. Budget was strictly less than 15L OTR as we already have Innova for the long highway runs and it made no sense to spend anything more.

The WR-V was one choice but already having the Jazz with us never made it the first option for the simple reason that the newer Hondas feel more Chinese than Japanese to us.

The default option was the Creta. I still remember the experience of buying the Verna back in 2008 and the same nostalgia came back when I visited the showroom and checked out the Creta.

I decided to go for the E+ CRDi model even though my budget allowed for the higher variant. It was ages since I had a reliable project car for myself. It was a no brainer to get this variant and enjoy my time customizing it even if at the cost of some creature comforts. For that we already have the top variant of Ameo and Jazz.

A few calls with the bank and the dealers in Amritsar and by 27th September we got the car home. Th color was 100% a choice of my better half

The only hiccup or addition expense that came my way was the dealer insisting on accessory worth INR 10,000 deemed as ‘mandatory’. It still worked out in the end as I managed to adjust that with the DRL and under body coating :/ All attributed to the insanely high demand for the E+ CRDi here.

So ultimately I have a Hyundai diesel car with good NVH levels and easy to install on panels and no headache of integration with OEM features. Déj?* vu for those familiar with my escapades with the Verna over at ICE-Land v20. 😊

Congrats Karan. Nice choice of colour.

Somehow almost all cars look good in Grey. Enjoy your Hyundai experience again.

Well said. Honda just went overboard with its BRV, WRV etc cars.

Not much can be debated there then.

How much did it cost eventually? You've been driving it for last 5-6 months. How is the impression so far?

Thank you everyone for the kind words

While the car has been with me for almost 6 months now, it has not seen much driving. Primarily owing to a wedding in the family that kept us going around more in the smaller cars and the Creta still not getting the Registered due to strike at the DTO Office. I've renewed the PRC thrice now so not taking a lot of risk with it on highway runs.

There were a few immediate upgrades/accessories added to the car that I had planned as soon as the car was booked.

Mostly plug and play, there are 2 different kits in the market and I see the one installed here is the former where the cruise and one other button will not function
