I did not replace the bearings from MASS - did it from Unity Motors (Its not an authorized MASS). But he did a good job.

I just wanted to know from guys here whether i am doing it right if i service my vehicle from Unity motors next time, though its not authorized ones? Right now fed up with Mandovi..

I did not find an appropriate thread hence posting it here -

Since couple of months i have following problems with my car:

    1. Pick up is pathetic.
    2. Vibrations especially after engaging the gear from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 4th.
    3. When Car is stationary at red signals a strange hissing sound especially in neutral gear when i remove my foot from the clutch (hissing sound disappears as soon as i press the clutch again). In addition to hissing sound, gear starts vibrating violently by itself.

these problems were very minor to begin with couple of months back but from past 1 week or so these symptoms are very severe and irritating to drive. After our GH bangalore meet on republic day sriharsha also drove my car all the way from Koramangala to Basaveshwaranagar and he is also under same opinion (though i never disclosed him at the first place about these problems when he started driving my car since I wanted an unbiased opinion)

I went to MASS just now and after checking they told me Problem 1 and Problem 2 above is because of clutch plate gone Kaput and problem 3 is because some bearing in the gear box gone kaput. Both needs to be replaced and total cost estimate is 4200 bucks. SA asked me to leave my car with them since he told me that it will take at least 2 working days to fix the problem (due to parts not in stock issues).

I am planning to leave my car with them on Monday. Before that i would appreciate if you guys can provide me your inputs and comments. Just wanted to make sure i am going in the right direction

When I was reading the vibration and squeaking bit, I assumed it had to be lack of lubrication on the gears. Happens when the transmission oil is not adequate.

I too suggest you get the clutch plate and releaser bearing replaced if its gone kaput. A worn out clutch plate explains the loss of power you have been noticing.

Dont worry lazy bhai ur silky siren beauty will be ok.

Its just the clutch plate plate problem and the one or two bearings with lubricating the gear shaft assembly. Its a one day job. Try the mandovi service center at Goruguntapalya. Speak with the WM, Mr. Sunil, tell them to order everythg then call u up. U sod get it done in a day. 2 days is crap. ok.
    Chances favour the prepared mind

It sure sounds like a clutch issue only. But ass charging you 4.2 is pretty low, i think

AGN can you please let me know the basis of your comments please. I am sure Mandovi motors never gives any discounts as such, at least i never came across with my 4 years of interaction with them!!

EDIT: in fact they find out every possible way to mug their customers!! - This is purely my belief
