when the rest of the gearheads were busy in their truck event (read safari meet) , I went to a truck event myself..the MONSTER JAM..
I'd heard about this event on radio a few days prior and decided to go. I'd seen shows about these maniac machines on speed tv and I was curious to know if the live show was any better.
the event was in Birmingham,AL. 2 1/2 hr drive for me. Further down the same road I took to go to Talladega speedway. this time no hangover issues and I reached well in advance but got ****ed off when I reached the ticket counter. I'd bought online tickets and cost me 45$ but the same tickets were on sale for 34 $ ..and I always thought online tickets were cheaper. Dang it.
then came the next goli..55-200 lens not allowed. basically any lens more than 6" not allowed..also video not allowed.
I had a lot of time remaining, drove around downtown Birmingham,AL and ate at a Nepali Run Indian Cuisine restaurant, Sitar.
reached the venue in time for the show.
well, the gates opened an hr earlier and the trucks were still around in the field mainly due to the pit party that happened a lil before the event but they all left eventually.
couldn't help but notice the W124 merc being crushed down.
then came the line sponsors display..in this case, ford trucks and Little caesar's pizza.

Dai!!!
Lucky you, there are events happening all around.
I always thought these kind of events happened at a large venue, but this looks like a small ground. If you could go this close with the 18-55, imagine 55-250.
lol..I did take videos..my D3100 takes videos remember.
true, there wasn't that big a crowd. maybe coz this venue was a small one.
the same event is happening in Atlanta too where it is a much bigger venue but on 15th jan. I won't be in Atlanta that time and that's why I had to make this compromise.
yes, the 18-55 was sufficient enough but many pix got messed up coz I haven't yet gotten the D3100 to listen to me the way I could the Canon 1000D.
