Tvs wego - review

I've been using this two wheeler for over four months now...Here's are my brief observations..

1) BEST SUSPENSION : The Telescopic Front Shock absorber (normally found only in bikes) is just too good...even on the worst potholed roads the Wego keeps you comfortable

2) Balance : The engine is placed in such a way that you wont find the scooter 'tilting' to one side coz of the weight...They call it the 'Body Balance Technique'

3) The Pick up : Pick up is just great...you will find it zooming ahead even before others are able to race up their vehicle...

4) Decent Average - Although they claimed an average of 45, mine is giving me around 38-40 which I feel is decent enough for Mumbai traffic...

5) Service Center - The service center which I visited (Siddhivinayak TVS, Goregaon) provided a very good service. However SkyRiders at Malad wasnt upto the mark(they didnt even wash the vehicle !).

6) Unisex Appeal - Unlike the Dio and Pleasure which are very Girly type...Wego has the unisex appeal. Ladies will find its design very eye-catching whereas men would find it very smart !

7) Large 12inch wheels- Activa has just 10 Inch wheels...and the extra 2 inches that Wego has makes quite a difference on the road.

8) External Fuel Filler- Trust me this one is a boon ! You simply dont need to lift your seat at every petrol pump !!

Now for some cribbing (We Indians are used to crib about almost everything ;-))

1) After sales service- Although no major issues faced, but I had to wait for a week to get a new mirror after I broke my original mirror. Each and every spare comes from Chennai !!

2) Headlight- Not a major issue again, but the headlight is focussed awkwardly....its beam never hits the ground...so at night be prepared to miss the speed breakers !! Any idea how I can get the headlight focus set ?

3) Some issues with my FRONT brake handle- Recently the FRONT Brake handle gets depressed only halfway when bike is in motion, and gets depressed completely when bike stops...Dunno why this is happening. Even the service center guys raked their heads...but cudnt come up with any solution. Braking is all-right nevertheless.

Overall verdict, if you are thinking of deciding between WEGO or Activa/Access and cant bear the long waiting period of Activa ( 10 months in Mumbai!!) ...Go for Wego ! Its worth every rupee you spend ! Moreover...NDTV conferred it with the "Scooter of the Year" award at the Car & Bike Awards 2011 !

Great, it looks cute and chunky. Tvs has done it again.
Get the light focused at the ass, its dangerous to drive like that at night. The brake thing is odd, maybe a safty feature for not locking up the wheel.

Nice Review, been hearing good things about Wego. Looks like TVS has got a winner on its hands after Scooty. They should promote this more, especially with the long waiting lists the Honda Activa has at the present.

How does the instrumental panels look like? Some pics are appreciated. Also I heard some body balancing or some new technology with Wego, could you put your experience on that pls?

Congrats! The color is good and the scooter is shining. I always felt that the tyres of Activa were a bit small and was not comfortable riding Activa. I hope that the larger wheels on Wego gives a stable ride. What about the weight of the bike? Is that okay or heavy?

LOL! Forgot to add- mass centralisation is called Body Balance

I thought its got some balancing technique that the Segway works on

Activa's waiting period is 10 months? Thats too much... I can fathom waiting for Vento is 3 months but this case is ridiculous.

Excellent review..please mention OTR and what is the cost difference between Activa and Access.

Some more pictures of instrument cluster will help.

This bike would be a real winner if TVS markets this product well, WEGO was launched long back(read - 6 months or so) and ads are just coming in now....they have already wasted quite a lot of time.
