Gowdare.. I have heard this engine note funda for wayyyyy too long to say , it is BS.. On the turbodiesels, there is not enough rpm range for you to play with unless you are shifting close to redline.

The best driving experience is when you shift in a manner that when you upshift , you still are in the rpm where the turbo is still in boost. In the Scorpio you lose 600-800 rpm per upshift and the boost happens realistically about 1700rpm hence with a 2500 ~ 2800 rpm upshift you can definitely stay in the meat of the powerband with turbo on boost all the time. Healthier for the engine as it is getting all the air it needs and not having to cut fueling all the time.

The tacho is there for a reason. most people dont get it. The only reason i paid extra on the VDi over the LDi is for the tacho.

    @dev- nice writeup.

I had been to Shell, not to refuel but to purchase some interior cleaning agents and ended up buying a spray from Pidilite Industries, yes the same Fevicol brand. It cost me 200.00 for a spray can of around 200ml and had a brush on the lid. I followed the instructions meticulously and yet was not satisfied about the results.
I need to clean the following:
    1. All the seat covers(the normal cloth and sponge type).
    2. The carpets as Hariya doesnt yet have rubber mats.
    3. Roof lining especially above the driver seat.
    4. Door pads and pockets.

Help please on the product/s, usage and outlets at Blore.
I m trying to avoid going to a professional cleaning facility if I can.

    Time for an Update:

My relationship with Hariya continues to deepen, over the kms that we clock together. He's now in his youth. Seen a third of the Indian states and most types of roads as well. His spirit though, is as sprightly as ever which makes it a pleasure to go with him anywhere, anytime.

KA, TN, KL, PY, MH, AP, GA...

We had gone for his 35k service last week at SKS, Hosur Road and as usual, I was with him all day long while he was being looked after by a young but knowledgeable mechanic called Laxman. The bill was a hefty 9700 but quite a few parts were changed including 2 shock absorbers and the engine oil and filter apart from fresh wheel balancing, rotation, alignment and a couple of suspension bushes.

Mileage has been a very respectable 12kmpl overall so far and I hope to maintain it that way.

We are off to Munnar tommorow evening and I m sure this too will be cakewalk for the ever dependable bullet proof Hariya.

    Ciao...

Hey DEV, Nice to see you here mate. I never knew you were on this forum too and this is not fair that after a span of 7 months you are updating this thread. Where are those travelouges(goa, delhi, shirdi etc etc). No photos of Hariya on this thread. So hoping you do justice for Hariya. Right??

We are back from Munnar and Hariya was excellent all throughout. An overall mileage of 12.53 kmpl due to the relatively high speeds maintained on the highways.
The only issue faced was when I pushed him to his max speed on the NICE road on the way back to Blore was the engine check light coming on. I stopped, checked all possible points and started again. No light since then. I guess it was/is a clogged diesel filter and plan to replace it this weekend.

No other issues thus far, and life is great...
