1600 Bookings in the first month of the launch

Within two weeks of its launch, the Skoda Rapid has made over 1,600 Indians fall for it! A release to sum up sales performance of the Skoda India states that the VW-owned car manufacturer expects the C-Segment Rapid to turn into the best-selling vehicle for the Indian market in the future.

An experimental program was also introduced where customers can book their Rapid through its official website. The concept has met with moderate success as 18 customers made their deposit in the first hour of live time.
Now i wanna say that this is really Awesome

Skoda premiered the Rapid in India last month and takes it other developing markets next year with a restyled front-end and hatchback (think Octavia) body style aligned with the MissionL concept shown at Frankfurt Motor Show.
Skoda could use more powerful engines and dual clutch transmissions on foreign markets where customers demand higher driving performance.

The real question is how many of us would really buy this product from skoda as they have a horrible after sales support and a ***** of an attitude towards indian customers.

Most of it are hearsay and street talks...how many of their customers are actually affected?

We need to understand that every car is prone to breakdown...it all depends on how we use it and how much lucky we are.

For the past 2 days I am hearing cars going up in flames in Chennai...both are Indian makes and not Nano...Also I have seen breakdowns on 1 weeks old car as well

Recently a friend of mine purchased a yetti, had warned him about skoda after hearing about the many faced problems on forums now he is paying for it. Its a week old car, does that make him unlucky? I don't want to get into the details of it because we heard so many of them till date no point in talking about the problems he faced, but just want to highlight their attitude. It would'n make any of us feel good after paying xxx lakhs of rupees and base it on being lucky.

There are issues unresolved with skoda cars which I am sure is not because of the way its being used, but more to do with manufacturing defects or its just skoda's attitude towards not accepting faults. I am not saying other companies are perfect. I have owned a Tata before had faced several problems.

There are other companies in the market who are more serious with respect to after sales support, buying a car is just not about how good its to drive or how good blah.. blah.. is, I would expect every other aspect of the ownership to be good. Skoda has a good brand image among the crowd, but as far as I see it doesn't simply because of the way customers are treated when there is an issue to be dealt with.

Skoda name got tarnished in India because of the DSG gearbox, this was my VW and there was a batch of gearbox which had a manufacturing defect. Globally these model were recalled to fix the issue but in India there din't do as there were no strict rules. All those failure DSG box gave nightmare to customer other than that there is no know issue or defect in Skoda cars.

Your friend had a night mare with Yeti and like wise my friend had a nightmare with his brand new unregistered Getz, 1 week old Xylo and 2 weeks old i10....there are some anomaly but Skoda is not as bad as it is projected

Cammy, trust me when I say nothing is heresay on Skoda horror stories.

While it is true that any manufacturer could sell you a bad car, Skodas attitude towards it's Indian customers is absolutely callous & pathetic. That makes owning a Skoda a nightmare. It's just that a common man doesn't know he is getting fleeced because he thinks what he is being charged is normal for an expensive European car.

I've twice experienced their atrocious attitude myself. My aunt has a Laura & a Superb. Tafe Access was a horrendous experience. She almost wanted to sell the Laura, but in time Vinayak Skoda opened. They were really good, until the got the customer base they needed. Now even they don't care. Check out the Dealer feedback thread I wrote last month. I used to ask people to pick up their cars from Vinayak, but recently seeing their attitude I don't recommend anyone I know a Skoda specially in Bangalore. Why do you think I didn't even look at the Laura while buying a car? Though the Laura is an excellent buy!

Dark_Light - Nice to see you back online

mclaren1885 India is not far behind, I've seen some good cars in India nothing much to brag about here in this country. Ultimately enjoyed driving in India, nothing can beat the unexpected curves along with the challenging road conditions we have there with our cars. Will post pics when I see some thing truly extraordinary camchennai I don't believe it was just because of the dsg gearbox , it was mainly the after sales support they provided to their customers and skoda gives a rats ass after you have paid for it. I have seen the after sales experience of skoda , its not worth mentioning. Please don't term internet forums as hear say , then all the info we gain from this or other forums are of no value. Trusted members post these information not for any personal gains but to give a fair real world experience, cheers.
