Keep checking the oil levels periodically. If you find the oil level is less, then get it topped up. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to make a needless trip the service centre. The oil dipstick has a max and min level markings. As long as the oil level is not near the min marking its fine.

so your current oil has run 6K? I would say run it 4000 km more then. modern engines do not consume oil so much as disintegrate and dirty it. if you go by the level, you will be seriously misled. what you need to look for is the color, stickiness and slipperiness of the oil.

rahul and bond have clearly highlighted what needs be paid attention to, you can run another 4k kms without being worried about it, no harm in keeping on eye on the oil level, however do check it only when the car has been standing overnight, oil expands when heated and on a hot engine the indication will be deceptive

I would suggest reading the owners manual. The Cruze manual says check engine oil level after the engine has reached operating temperatures and has cooled down for 10mins.

yep, it shouldn't be checked after extended periods of operation though, even with this route it will remain much the same(hardly a difference of 5 percent over a cold engine), our only concern is oil consumption, so he needs to adopt one technique and then keep repeating it every time he checks his oil level

    Nicely written Deven.

Liked the graphics work done on Ground Clearance. I also liked the review of liquids used by you for rain-water to slip from ORVM and driver side window. I see the concern you've raised regarding wind-shield water going inside engine. Eon has similar design as well and I had asked this question to the SA upon purhcase, he assured me this is nothing to worry about and water will not impact engine.

FE of 13.5 avg is good. Has it made any fluctuations? 16k run in 20 months approx....thats a decent run!

Have you made any other long run trip except the Kanyakumari trip what we are already enjoying in separate thread?

New seat belt with motor got installed, under warranty!

I was asked SA to check the quality and quantity of the engine oil and top-up if needed, keeping the advices from the masters in mind. Wasn't topped-up as he found everything ok!

Squeaking noise from brake-pads was also reported. It was heard just 2-3 times and noise was not loud. But got the brake pads cleaned. Charged for Rs. 250. May be ok! Found that applying brake-pedal requires less application of force now than before.

There are minor, low-noising "bad-road only" rattles/squeaks in the cabin. Squeaks are heard from window glasses when fully closed and driving on bad roads. Similarly some minor rattles are heard from doors on really bad roads. I didn't find them disturbing, though not liked that they are there, present in the car!

Decided not to get the issue of rattles worked this time! Discussed this with SA. Planning to get them fixed, if increased, at the time of third service.

Seat belt now hug me with lot of affection and intensity! I do feel it and feel good!

Seat belt should always be comfortable and put driver at ease. I am used to seat belt to so much extent that at times I myself don't know that when I have put the belts on, even when I want to just get the car out from the parking .

Car was filled with the petrol for Rs. 1000/- each (13.5 lts) on last two fueling. Both the times DTE was reached very low - 8 and 6 respectively!

First time it read 201 and second time 186 on DTE. Fuel indicator was showing 1/3+ tank filled. So, there is a difference of 6.5% in DTE estimation.

This truly reflected the driving pattern followed - before first fueling car was on long run for some 40+40 kms, not exactly the highway though! And before second fueling it was 100% short city drives!
